Do you know of the Four Heavenly Kings (四大天王)? It is a Chinese term created by Oriental Daily News to refer to the four biggest male superstars in Hong Kong at that time.

If you’re too young (or too angmo), you might be wondering: Who are the Four Heavenly Kings? Here they are: Andy Lau, Aaron Kwok, Jacky Cheung and Leon Lai. I’m sure you’ve at least heard of one of them.

Don’t you wonder what they are up to now? After all, with the Internet, it’s so much easier to stalk a person. So here is an update on the things that we’ve found!

Andy Lau

Remember the incident? He was thrown off a horse while shooting a tea commercial in Thailand. He had been bedridden since he was flown back from Thailand for treatment.

He has been advised by doctors to rest for up to 11 months after incurring multiple fractures on his pelvis as well as tendon and muscle strains.

Three months after his horse riding injury, he can now walk with a walking support. Look at him! He is definitely in a much better condition now. Thank goodness!

And I don’t think I need to say this, but lest you’ve not been to the movies for years, here’s the update: he’s still very active in showbuzz, starring in movies after movies.

Aaron Kwok

Aaron Kwok. on the other hand, just got married. (congratulations!) He even went to great lengths to keep his wedding to model Moka Fang low-key.

It was noted by Oriental Daily News that security was tight on Tuesday (April 18) at The Peninsula Hong Kong, where the couple arrived by helicopter and avoided the media completely.

When asked why The Peninsula was picked for the wedding, it was mentioned that the hotel was where Kwok had held his 50th birthday party.

He had expressed his wish to meet Miss Right and start a family back then. Less than two months later, he introduced Fang to the public as his girlfriend. Now isn’t that fated or what?

He’s, just like Andy Lau, still actively starring in Hong Kong movies, and will be taking the role of Sun WuKong in next year’s The Monkey King 3.

Jacky Cheung

Jacky Cheung have out done himself again with his latest performance in Singapore. On February 24, his three-hour-long concert was completely sold out. A full stadium of 10,000 fans confirmed just how spectacular his performance was.

A highlight was the concert’s four-sided stage that seemed to transform with every song, resembling first a three-tier cake, then a circular staircase, at times a rotating compass, at others a walled fortress. Now how cool is that!

But unlike Andy Lau and Aaron Kwok, Jacky Cheung, known more for his singing (and several comedic roles in the past), hasn’t been very active in acting, with his last role in 賭城風雲III (at least in the movie that was released in Singapore).

While he has released 57 albums, the singer’s last album was released in 2014.

In other words, he hasn’t been releasing many new works in the last few years, but hey: this king can just release one album or movie and everyone will be roaring to buy or watch it.

Leon Lai

Singer and actor Leon Lai is known to be a private person, but the star opened up recently about the romantic setbacks in his life on a popular Chinese television show.

Regarded as one of the four Heavenly Kings in Hong Kong pop culture, he confessed on Dragon TV’s The Jinxing Show that he was heartbroken after ending a seven-year relationship with actress Shu Qi in 2004.

“Everyone experiences pain. If there isn’t pain, we won’t be able to come together,” he told show host Jin Xing, who felt that the pair make an ideal couple. We feel you.

Just like Andy Lau and Aaron Kwok, he is still starring in movies, but we might not have seen him as many of the movies he starred in were not released in Singapore. Nevertheless, just know this: he, together with the others, are still active, despite you not seeing him that often.
