Eating alone can be intimidating for many as they worry about other people would think about them. However, there benefits of eating alone that you may not know of which will probably make your experience of eating alone a better one.


1. Efficiency

When you are eating with someone else, you actually spend a lot more time choosing the restaurant, deciding on the menu and so on. However, when you are alone, you do not have to think for someone else and hence is able to make decisions more quickly. This saves you a lot of time and trouble when you are in a rush.


2. Alone Time

Giving time to yourself is important to everyone, as it allows you to chill and process our lives on our own terms. By being alone, it gives us a chance to clear our minds and for our brains to rest. Eating alone is the best time for this.


3. Sensory Experience

When we are dining with someone else, we will obviously be distracted by the person we are dining with, such as when you are making conversation with the person. When we eat by ourselves, we do not get the same kind of distraction and are able to focus on the food we are eating and our surroundings. This will make our dining experience more pleasant.

As taking flatlays of our food has become the trend, we are tempted to jump on the bandwagon as well. However, some of our friends may be annoyed as they do not see the purpose of doing such a silly act. By dining alone, we can take as many pictures as we want until we are satisfied. No pressure.

We may be afraid to check our phones when we dine with someone else for fear of being rude. When eating alone, we can use our phones as much as we want.


8. No boring stories

Not saying all but some people love to tell their long grandma stories over the meal. Sometimes, this may be too much to hear over a meal and dining alone helps to save ourselves from all these stories.


9. Order as much as you want

You can order as much as you want. If you want to order a set meal for two just for yourself, by all means, go ahead. No one will be there to judge you for eating too much. You can order whatever you like including food that your friends dislike.


10. Easier to find seats

Though this reason may sound ridiculous, it is definitely true. When you are alone, you can easily a high-chair seat as compared to eating with other people. When dining with others, you will probably have to queue for a long time outside, waiting for large groups of people to finish their meals before you can get a seat.
