The Justice League is DC’s answer to Marvel’s Avengers, both of them being the mega team of their respective comic book worlds which is composed of the main superheroes and characters that are assembled to battle a huge oncoming threat.
The new Justice League movie is set for release in November 2017, and here are some things you should know about the film that might just make you forget about Avengers altogether!
It’s a sequel to Batman Vs Superman
The story takes place a few months after the events of Batman Vs Superman where (spoiler alert!) Superman “dies” trying to destroy a monster. Batman honors his legacy and wants to bring together more metahumans (that’s DC speak for mutants) to form a team that can protect earth.
This wasn’t the first Justice League movie planned
Apparently back in 2007, there were plans to produce a Justice League movie and all the casts had been assembled, but it was shelved during the production stage.
There’s going to be a post credit scene
True DC fans always stay after the credits to know what’s next, so do stay until after the credits to watch a scene featuring the Green Lantern.
The trailer is amazing
If you haven’t watched the trailer, don’t waste any more time and press play immediately. Especially this latest one that is just released three days ago (it’s four minutes long!)
Gal Gadot learnt 5 martial arts for her role
Gal Gadot put in a lot of muscle power to get her scenes right, and learnt Kung Fu, Kickboxing, Jiu Jitsu and Capoeira for her role in Justice League as well as for her own introductory Wonder Woman movie.
The film includes Oscar winning actors
The film’s star studded cast includes three Oscar winners, Ben Affleck, Jeremy Irons and J.K. Simmons as well as four Oscar nominees; Amy Adams, Willem Defoe, Diane Lane and Jesse Eisenberg. DC is really investing a lot to compete with Marvel!
The original director suffered a tragic loss
The first director for the film was Zack Snyder, but he and his producer wife Deborah Snyder pulled out of the project towards the end of filming as their daughter lost her life to suicide. The project was taken over by Joss Whedon, who shot some additional scenes that will be included in the movie.
Seven Samurai was an influence on this film
Akira Kurosawa’s classic masterpiece of Japanese theater, Seven Samurai, served as the inspiration behind Zack Snyder’s vision for this film. Here’s the trailer for this classic movie.
Two Game of Thrones actors are in this movie
Jason Momoa who plays Khal Drogo and Ciaran Hinds who plays Mace Rayder in Game of Thrones are in this movie as Aquaman and Steppenwolf respectively.
Hanry Cavill’s moustache was a problem
Did you see a lot of people talking about Hanry Cavill’s moustache in Facebook, but didn’t know what they’re talking about?
Well, here goes: Extensive reshoots were necessary once Joss Whedon took over as director, but these reshoots coincided with Henry Cavill (Superman)’s other project M I 6: Mission Impossible in which he sports a moustache, which he was contractually prevented from shaving off, so the moustache had to be digitally erased for the final cut.
Yeah, in other words, Superman does have a moustache. It’s just “Photoshopped” away.
