First-Dates are always nerve-wrecking. You’ll never know what will happen. What does your date think of you? Does your date like you as much as you like her? This lead to us doing weird things, trying to make them to like us. Well, we’ve all been there before.

Don’t let your first date stress you out! Just follow these 10 rules and you’ll be fine.

1. Exes and Ohs

Just a friendly reminder that your first date is NOT an emotional baggage dumping ground. You’re on a date, for goodness sake. Are you sure you want to mention your ex in front of a potential mate on a First-Date?

2. Be On-Time

Being on time is a basic communication that your date is of importance to you. That being said, even if you can’t be on the dot, call her and let her know!

She’ll completely understand if you can’t make it on time. At least it’s far better than letting her wait for a whole 20 minutes without telling her. Now that’s an a**hole.

3. Dress To Impress

Take pride in your appearance if you want to score a second date. Your date agreed to go on a date with you, so she’ll definitely going to look her best for you.

So why won’t you do the same and dress your best too? Let her know she is worth the time and effort for you to dress up!

4. Phone Away, Please

There is literally nothing ruder than trying to have a conversation with a person who’s constantly stating at a screen.

It’s difficult to even sustain a conversation without one person getting all distracted by his or her phone. Put it away, please! The less distraction, the better. You’re on a date with a person, not your phone anyway.

5. Hold a Conversation

Many times, people get too nervous and start blabbering all about themselves to fill up awkward silences.

You should be engaging with the other party, not just talking about you, you, you.

Try asking the other party more about themselves! It might open up more topics along the way too.

6. To Pay or Not to Pay?

Don’t fight over the check just for the hell of it! It really depends on what your date is comfortable with. Some might prefer to go dutch, so do remember to ASK before you pay!

7. Be Polite, Not Pushy

So the waiter comes along and gives a wrong order. You just have to scold him for his carelessness and demand to see his manager.

Whoa, hold up dude. Why you gotta be so rude? That is definitely NOT the way to impress a date, is it?

8. Don’t Be Too Touchy

It’s the first date, you need time to gauge the comfort level of your date before slowly advancing to the next stage.

Different people have different boundaries that they set for themselves. Do respect your date’s boundaries and she will definitely appreciate it.

9. Expectations VS Reality

Don’t set out your expectations for the date too soon! Whether you’re looking for a serious relationship or a hookup, don’t jump to the subject immediately.

You’re limiting both yourself and the other party. Instead, just relax and have fun with your date. You never know, your intention to hook up might earn you a future partner instead.

10. Just Be Yourself

This is the last and most important point of all- Just be yourself! If she likes you, she will. If she doesn’t, then keep on searching till you find the right one. Good luck!
