10 places to go for Mr Lee Kuan Yew’s first death anniversary

Our former Prime Minister Mr Lee Kuan Yew has passed on before he managed to witness the SG50 National Day Parade. Now, his first death anniversary is approaching, and many events have been planned out to commemorate the passing of our founding Prime Minister. His efforts and contributions will be celebrated and remembered, but his death will always be mourned. Here are some places you can go to if you wish to commemorate his death anniversary.

Jurong Lake Park
There will be a tree-planting exercise at the park to remember his efforts in creating a clean and green Singapore.
When: March 23
Time: 7.45am to 8.45am

Sembawang Park
A brisk walking exercise and family carnival will be held at this park to celebrate his perseverance for healthy lifestyles and family togetherness.
When: March 20
Time: 7.30am to 10.30am

Duxton Plain Park
A remembrance site at the constituency of the former PM will be held to remember his contributions to the residents there.
When: March 19 to 27

Parliament House
Another remembrance site for his contributions.
When: March 19 to 27

Istana Park
Photographs and write ups will be displayed to celebrate his efforts and contributions.
When: March 19 to 27

Tanjong Pagar Community Club
Another remembrance service where residents will come together and talk about the former PM.
When: March 23
Time: 6.30pm to 9.30pm

Orchid Pavilion Tanjong Pagar Plaza
The orchids Aranda Lee Kuan Yew and Vanda Kwa Geok Choo will be displayed.  There will also be terrarium- making and tree-planting activities for the public to enjoy in remembrance of his efforts to make Singapore a green city.

Time: 4.30pm to 9.30pm

Punggol Waterway Park
Water activities will be carried out to emphasis the importance of water to Singapore and why Singapoe had to be able to produce its own water.

Time: 7.30am to 10am

Padang
A Silent Candlelight Rally will be held where people will be given electric candles and then form a ribbon image on the Padang. It is a sombre event that will commemorate the death anniversary and signify Mr Lee as Singapore’s guiding light.

Victoria Concert Hall
A concert will be held by the NUS Harmonica Orchestra.Tickets cost less than $40.
