Any day or night that we can turn into a fun booze fest with our friends is a good one. No matter the reason, the place, or the sort of alcohol, the idea is always welcomed. Although there are various cocktail bars in Singapore, it is always great to be able to enjoy artisanal cocktails at the comfort of one’s home.

Speaking of getting creative with drinks, we’re all mixologists in our own rights, right? Carefully concocted mixtures of chasers and liquor whenever we’re getting ready for a night out at Zouk. No, but really, this is something else. We’ve curated this list of 10 simple yet refreshing cocktails you can borderline impress your pals with.

Tequila Sunrise

Tequila is a crowd’s favourite, whether in a shot glass or mixed in a Margarita. Or in this case, the tequila sunrise! The layer-on-layer color can be deceiving, looking almost like the brainchild from a certain legitimate bartender, but this can simply be achieved by doing the following: mixing 3 ounces of orange juice and 1.5 ounces of tequila in ice, and then, adding 0.5 ounces of grenadine syrup which is just allowed to settle to the bottom of the glass.

This drink is perfect for amateur drinkers who prefer to mask the bitter taste of alcohol with hints of citrusy notes.

This drink is sure to whet your appetite. Some even have it as brunch drink! All you need are 5 ounces of orange juice2 ounces of vodka, and a pinch of salt. The secret in the refreshing taste lies in the refreshing and sour notes from the orange, but most importantly the freshness of ingredients, so be sure to select good quality orange juice and vodka blends.

‘Why pay S$15 and upwards for a drink anymore?’ The household name of every commercially upsold alcohol ever, you’ll need just 2 ounces of silver tequilaan ounce of lime juice, another ounce of orange liquor, and salt to line the glass rim. Margarita is a drink that is loved by many so it’s sure to save you during any drink crisis.

If you and your friends have been sold to the unicorn hype or really, just fancy all-things-colorful, this easy-to-make cocktail is one you need to try. All you need to do is pour champagne on cotton candy and watch it liquidate into a cloud-like drink. What did you do to the drink?

Tequila Negroni

If you’re looking for a drink apt for an office party, one that keeps things classy but light-hearted at the same time, then a Tequila Negroni is just the right beverage you’ve asked for.

The concoction consists of simply an ounce of tequilaCampari, and sweet vermouth in a glass. Add ice and lemon twist to garnish. Sip away and watch the alcohol wash over your workmates (and your boss!).

Strawberry Daiquiri

Frozen or shaken, the daiquiri is a drink perfect for summer. For Singapore really, a spiked slushie takes the cake, The fruity and smoothie texture make it refreshingly delicious.

The most popular variant of the Daiquiri is the strawberry blend which is achieved by blending rumstrawberrieslime juice, half a tablespoon of sugar (optional), and ice altogether. A fresh strawberry placed on the rim can also be added as the garnish.

If you’re holding a booze party when the sun is still out, most cocktail drinkers would recommend the Bloody Mary. It’s a popular cocktail served during breakfast or brunch. To some, it’s even a hangover cure.

Stir 3 ounces of tomato juice1.5 ounces of vodka, 0.5 ounce lemon juice,  pinch of salt and of pepper, a bit of Worcestershire sauce, a bit of hot sauce, and ice in a glass. Voila! Your brunch party can now commence.

Sparkling Strawberry Rosé Slush

This cocktail mix may require extended steps to create but we promise its worth the effort.

First, a sugar syrup mix is made by combining water and white sugar in medium heat. Then, it is blended with frozen strawberries and vodka (regular or strawberry). This puree is kept in the freezer to allow to slightly harden into slush. Once the desired consistency is achieved, it is served topped with sparkling rosé and fresh strawberry garnish. The perfect party drink to prepare beforehand to avoid the last minute party hassles!

Watermelon Cucumber Cooler

Watermelon and cucumber slices are pureed separately. They are, then, sieved before being mixed. Lastly, they are combined with a quarter cup of lime juice⅔ cup of vodka, and a tablespoon of honey (or more depending on your preferred level of sweetness), and served with ice and cucumber garnish. Two fruits of extreme water content, you can be sure the Watermelon Cucumber Cooler is the ultimate drink anyone would crave for in this sweltering Singaporean heat.
