We’ve all been chugging on iced lemon tea like there’s no tomorrow. Add the fact that the need to use the air-con surpasses the bill that you’re hit with every month.

With the effects of global warming on full swing, I guess we’d have to accept that the crazy heat waves are here to stay. I’m talking burns if you dare to walk out onto Serangoon for your chai fix at 3pm.

Which is exactly why you ought to know about the following signs of heat strokes. Yep, all ten of them.

Awfully Hot, Hot Skin
Keep an eye if your body gets exceptionally hot and your skin turns reddish. You might get this if it’s a simple sunburn too, but it gets downright serious if your body temp hits above 38 degrees.

A Bout of Dizziness Plus Fainting
This is yet another top hitter of heat stroke symptoms. You might get dizzy or feel faint (and even blackout) if you’ve been out in the sun for too long.

Tired to the Core
Spending a day out can make you terribly exhausted. If you’re feeling tired, go into the nearest café and rehydrate yourself. Go to a doctor if the tiredness doesn’t dissipate.

Feeling Nauseous
The uneasy feeling right at your stomach is telling you that you’ve been hit by the heat stroke more severely that you’d care to imagine. Drink a lot of water to get your body rehydrated.

The Stage of Vomiting
Your feeling of nausea’s now turned to your worst nightmare – puking. This is a surefire sign that you’ve been hit with a heat stroke.

An Accelerated Heartbeat
Your heartbeat can actually go on overdrive if you’ve been in the sun’s rays for too long. Check yourself in immediately – coz this is pretty serious.

Lack of Mental Focus
You’re feeling confused and disorientated. You can’t focus or remember anything offhand. Get medical help if this ever happens to you.

Getting a Seizure
This is one of the most dangerous symptoms of a heat stroke. If anyone you know has a seizure, head them to the hospital.

No Sweating
You should perspire a lot if you’re outside in the blazing sun. if you don’t, it’s a heat stroke. Period.

God Awful Headaches
Some people do get headaches after spending time outdoors. If, however, you’re outside for sometime and get severe head pain, it’s time to get yourself checked for a heat stroke.

What’s the best way to combat this? Stay indoors as much as possible and keep a bottle of water glued to you like it was your unborn child. Your body needs it, and it’s time you took steps to protect yourself form getting a heat stroke.
