10 things we’re dying to know when Descendants of the Sun ends

Okay, it’s official: Descendants of the Sun has ended. Now, what’s left are the three special episodes that won’t add more details about the story (most likely) and memories of the two special couples that we’ve grown to like.

Wait, two couples? No, hold your horse. We want to know more about the other couples. We want to know more about Daniel. We’re all dying to know more about so many things that the show didn’t tell us…

What happened to Song Sang Hyun and Ha Ja Ae?
Okay, if you don’t know who they are, here’s an image that’ll make you go, “Arh!!! They so cute!!!”

Their “romance” spanned over twenty years! So did they marry? They’re much cooler than the main couples!

What happened to Daniel Spencer and Ri Ye Hwa?
The girls went crazy over Daniel, so at least we want to know the backstory of this cool couple. And at the very least, Daniel didn’t drive a Hyundai, so there’s no product placement for him.

What happened when Big Boss and Sergeant Major Seo were captured and tortured?
If it’s classified, then at least show us how they managed to survive the 150 days? Or how they were beaten? Or how they escaped? Or where they were after that?

What happened to the North Korea soldier, Senior Lieutenant Ahn Jung Joon?
He’s such a cool fellow, don’t you all think? What happened to him? Is he still a soldier, or is he selling naengmyun (cold noodles) in North Korea?

With Big Boss’s promotion, will he be doing a desk job instead?
Soldiers will eventually be bounded to a desk after a series of promotions. You can see that most people in action in the show are either a lieutenant, a captain or a non-commissioned officer. So would Big Boss be doing paperwork now instead of fighting? Maybe handling S1 (in Singapore, the S1 is manpower department) and doing recruitments in school? With his looks, he’ll surely attract many Lieutenant Yoons.

What happened to Dr Kang’s hospital?
I thought she went back to work just to get a loan for her hospital or clinic or whatever she wanted to start. Even the deposit is given. Why didn’t that materialize?

Why aren’t the two main couples married yet?
Dr Kang is older than Big Boss, who is born in 1983. This means that Dr Kang is at least 33 years old. One year passed since Big Boss “died”, so she’s at least 34 in the last episode. As a doctor, she should know that it’s best to give birth before the age of 35, right?

What does the title really mean?
Is it just me, or does anyone feel that the show has not done the title any justice? There’s no mention of any descendant of the sun at all—not even during Dr Kang’s speech.

What’s the objective of Chi Hun breaking the fourth wall in the very last moment?
The scriptwriter, Kim Eun Sook, has been criticized for the endings of her previous dramas. Is that apparently what Kim Eun Sook wanted to tell us instead? We don’t want to know that. We want to know how they save people during the volcano!

No one dies, so why not do a sequel?
All along, I’ve always thought that when the producers said they couldn’t do a second season due to conflicting schedules by the main actors and actresses, they were just trying to hide the fact that a main character died. So now that we know the truth (and the truth that they were telling the truth then), do a sequel already! Have a Song Sang Hyun and Ha Ja Ae love story instead if Song Joong-ki is too busy!
