The much anticipated release of iPhone 7 in Singapore on 16 September saw snaking queues islandwide and the Plus size was sold out on the same afternoon. For many Singaporeans, getting their hands on the device is as good as striking the lottery. Here are 5 things you can expect from Apple’s latest addition to their handset.
1) Jet black is the new “it” colour
Before jet black handsets were made available, rose gold was the “it” colour when iPhone 6 was released. The new colour introduced is now a hot favourite with its sleek seams that are nearly invisible and its glossy finish. In fact, the jet black model is currently sold out worldwide. If you see any third-party online offers of the jet black model, be careful that it could be a scam.
2) EarPods with Lightning Connector
Apple has done away the 3.5mm earphone jack and the device now includes a pair of EarPods with Lightning Connector. This means that there is only 1 port for both charging of phones and plugging in of the earphones. If you would like the complete package with iPhone 7, you can get the AirPods – wireless earphones – at $238 and they’re releasing it in late October.
3) Splash and water resistant
The iPhone 7 is now splash, water and dust resistant. But that doesn’t mean it won’t go haywire if it’s continuously submerged in water. You can probably get it wet casually without major issues like getting it drenched in the rain, or accidentally upsetting a glass of water over it.
4) Improved camera capabilities
It has a bigger aperture at ƒ/1.8. In photography, this number is a way of describing the size of the aperture. A smaller number means a bigger aperture and vice-versa. A bigger aperture allows more light to pass through the lens which will capture better pictures under low light and also able to isolate objects in the foreground from the background, making the image look sharper.
5) Bigger storage capacity
In the previous iPhone 6, the storage space could go up to 128GB but they’ve now doubled that amount in iPhone 7. You can get up to 256GB storage space so you don’t have to worry about having too many photos and videos stored on your phone.
