WhatsApp has evolved as an app and now has even more features than ever. However, with new technology comes new problems. Some of these new features become the source of our quarrels as we quickly discovered that some of our friends read but did not reply to our messages, or we discovered that our partner has read our messages at an earlier time but claimed not to have read it.

Sometimes, we really do miss the old Whatsapp where all it could do was message. Let’s check out the old Whatsapp.

No blue ticks
No ticks means nobody can track whether the message is delivered to your phone and when you read it. This can save many couples petty quarrels over when their partner saw and read the message but did not reply.

No information on when a message is read
New version of Whatsapp allows anyone to check on the information of what time a message is delivered and read. This time stamp has also caused similar problems for couples. People got along better back then.

You cannot trace old group chat
In older versions, you cannot trace back your old group chat. This save many people from embarrassment as there is no way you can trace back what you have said a month ago in a moment of drunkenness.

No starred message
Similar to the previous point, the old versions do not allow you to mark a message as starred. Without this function, you can let a particular message “get lost” in the sea of conversation and pretend it doesn’t exist.

No WhatsApp Web
You cannot stay connected when you forget your phone right? That is only true when WhatsApp web do not exist. In the past, when we do not feel like replying to messages, we could claimed that we’re busy on our computers. Now, everyone uses WhatsApp chat to chat on their computers during work anyway.

No link previews
In the old version, links are just that. Links! You do not see previews of the links that are sent through your WhatsApp chat. It does not take up much space and you can easily scroll through without accidentally clicking on the link (because now the area is so big) and opening the links that you have no interest to see.

No call function
Isn’t it irritating when the call function was just introduced? You find yourself calling your friends accidentally when all you wanted to do was text them where you are. When there are no call functions, you will not accidentally press on “call” and then waste precious data because you did not know you are calling your friends without knowing it.

There you have it, the 7 things which we love about the WhatsApp of the past. It is certainly nostalgic isn’t it?
