Typically, you’d see me writing about deals and news. Yup, heavy stuff that requires a lot of brainpower to plough through.

Boss, pay me more leh.

But what most people don’t know about me, is that I’m a die-hard romantic.

In fact, when it comes to romance, I’d probably rank right above Steven Lim, whom we’d all agree is the one true Casanova of Singapore.

And when it comes to romance, what’s the number one most romantic thing that will set your hearts afire and blood pumping through your body?

Fireworks, lots and lots of fireworks.

If you have a girl you want to ask out, or propose to, or just make her excited about you, bring her to NDP. Because you can’t find any place else with more fireworks than on that night.

Now, in case you didn’t get tickets to the fireworks- sorry, I mean NDP 2018, and you’re not rich enough to get a room in the nearby hotels, here are 8 free places you can go to watch the fireworks on 9 Aug this year.

Note: Be sure to go to these places early and camp because they’re really popular. But then again, the news revealed that there is going to be a pre-parade fireworks display as well so plan properly hor!

1. Marina Bay Waterfront Boardwalk

Marina Bay Waterfront Boardwalk is our first choice to view the fireworks during 9 Aug. Because even without the fireworks, the place is romantic enough by itself.

With the sound of water lapping at the edge of the construct plus an amazing panoramic view of the cityscape, you won’t have a single bored moment while waiting for the fireworks to start.

2. The Promontory @ Marina Bay

Some of you might know this place as The Promontory. Others, the damned patch of land you have to walk past to get to MBS.

Or more familiarly, the place where the Prudential Carnival was held.

But whichever it is, this could easily top the list for the best place to watch fireworks and take photographs.

Why? Because the iconic Marina Bay Sands building will feature in the backdrop of your photo.

3. The Merlion Park

Who knew that the Merlion Park is good for anything else other than taking “water fountain pictures”?

But this spot is amazing.

It provides a clear and close view of the NDP fireworks.

4. Gardens By The Bay East Garden

This place isn’t as accessible as the other places on the list.

You’d have to walk 20 minutes from Promenade station, drive or take bus service 400 to reach the place.

But damn, it’ll be worth it.

I mean, the entire cityscape framing the fireworks?

Nothing’s ever going to beat that.

Plus, if you’re so romantic your girl (or boy) jumped on you, there are plenty of bushes for you to do your private business if you get what I mean.

5. The Esplanade Roof Terrace

The Esplanade Roof Terrace has is pretty much a common feature in most of Goody Feed’s listicles.

From free dating places to atas-looking dating places.

Now you can add another achievement to its portfolio, one of the best places to watch fireworks from.

We’d prefer the roof terrace but if it’s too crowded for your taste, you can move down to the waterfront right in front of the Esplanade for the fireworks as well.

Plus, sitting in front of the water and hearing it lap at the shores.

Score.

6. The Marina Barrage

If you’ve never been to the Marina Barrage to catch the fireworks display before, you might want to give it a shot this year.

It’s higher than the waterfronts, bringing you that little bit closer to the firework display in the night sky.

Plus, this is the place people go to when they want to fly kite. You’ll end up looking like you’ve just woken up but the comfort level of this place is no joke.

Note: depends on the crowd too.

And if you’re feeling peckish, you can always visit Satay by the Bay for some delicious satay. A bit pricey, yes but worth your cash and calories.

7. Helix Bridge and Sheares Bridge

The Helix Bridge and Sheares Bridge are located right next to the Bay where the action is happening.

If you’re looking for an unobstructed view of the fireworks display, these two places are the best options for you.

The only drawback? There are no seats and the crowd is going to be absolutely crazy.

But then again, if you’re going with the girl of your dreams, take this chance to hug her close to you.

Just don’t be too pervert about it lah. 😉

8. Jubilee Bridge

If you don’t know where’s this place, I don’t blame you. It’s the bridge connecting Esplanade and the Merlion Park.

For a breathtaking panoramic view of the bay, this is the place to go to.

Just remember that you need to start camping early here because it’s a pretty popular spot.
