There are times where we are driven to the brink of desperation and so emotionally broken we do drastic things.

Like in K-dramas where the main lead speeds along the expressway because his girlfriend just died.

But unlike the dramas, doing that in real life has real consequences.

Here’s a story of a k-drama-esque (allegedly) incident that took place in Singapore, plus a couple of motivational news that’ll get you geared up for work tomorrow.

Yet Another E-Scooter Incident, This Time at Bukit Timah

Ever since we started writing about the hottest topics for the day, we realised one important thing.

E-scooter keeps popping up within the articles.

And it’s mostly bad, except for that one time e-scooter helped catch a thief at Geylang.

Other than that, it’s all about accidents, collisions and hospitals.

Like this one.

On 21 Apr at around 1.56 pm, an accident occurred between an e-scooter and a taxi at the junction of Jalan Anak Bukit and Jalan Jurong Kechil .

A photo taken of the incident showed an e-scooter crushed under the front of a white vehicle.

The rider, a 49-year-old man, was sent to Ng Teng Fong hospital, according to the SCDF.

This comes after an astronomical amount of e-scooter incidents reported in the past week alone.

E-scooter riders, no matter whether it’s your fault or not, maybe it’s time to consider riding safely?

Too many times have you seen e-scooter riders take to the roads like kings.

Please lah, you and motorcycles same-same, can?

The police said that they were alerted to a case of unnatural death at around 5.30 am.

The man was lying on the ground motionless and was pronounced dead by SCDF paramedics at the scene.

Jalan Besar GRC took to Facebook to express their condolences and assure residents that they have “an active horticulture maintenance programme” in place.

Reshuffle of S’pore Cabinet Expected To Happen Next Week

We don’t usually write about political stuff, because we kiasee, but this is one which most, if not all, Singaporeans must know about.

A major reshuffle of the Singapore cabinet and its impending announcement next week.

With this reshuffle, Singaporeans will be able to see more of the 4G ministers and predict whether the life in Singapore is going to get even harder or not.

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said that the reshuffle will be arranged in a way to give more exposure to 4G ministers and responsibilities.

However, not all ministers will be moved as they need time to complete initiatives that they have started.

Image: straitstimes.com

As for who the next Prime Minister will be, PM Lee clarified that he’s confident the 4G leaders will make headway in choosing their next leader.

In other words, it’s not set in stone yet. Probably.

He mentioned that it’s mainly the 4G ministers who are responsible for drafting out the President’s inaugural speech at the opening of the parliament on 7 May.

So for those interested, pay attention to the speech and you’ll be able to have a sense of what to expect.

The ministers are now on the 20th draft of the speech and he’s sure that their efforts will be shown to Singaporeans.

But that’s the power of Alibaba and the consumer power of China.

On 21 Apr, it was reported that Jack Ma, who was in Thailand to negotiate a mega-deal on investment, showed the power of e-commerce.

Within one minute, he showed how 80,000 “Golden Pillow” durians are sold on his platform.

Image: straitstimes.com

China, he said, is fast becoming one of the largest market in the world, driven by a growing middle-class group of 300 million.

As people get more affluent, they’re going to want more things and this, he said, is the best time for trade-oriented countries to export to China.

Alibaba started selling the “Golden Pillows” durian on Wednesday.

And that’s not the magical part.

Two days before the launch, there were 60,000 pre-orders and at launch time, 40,000 durians were sold immediately.

The figures doubled to 80,000 within a single minute.

We’re living in one of the most exciting times, where anyone with a brilliant idea, willing to work hard and smart, can be successful.

Don’t believe us? Check out the beginnings of Jack Ma’s Alibaba and you’ll know what I mean.
