[App Exclusive] I Switched To Using a Mac From a Windows Computer & Have Never Regretted Since

Looking at the headline, I can already imagine tons of haters going “Ah, another Mac user is here to slam the greatness of Windows again. This person must be an egocentric individual from the Strawberry generation who thinks the image of owning a Mac triumphs everything.”

Well, yes and no.

Firstly, yes, I am an egocentric individual from the Strawberry generation but no, I have never believed that image triumphed everything. And in actual fact, I have always believed that Windows laptops were way better than Macbooks because I could never seem to get hold of the functions of a Mac Laptop.

I would take a try at my boyfriend’s Macbook pro and give up soon after because just a simple scrolling function would irritate the life of out me.

And when it got to the point when my 4-year old Toshiba Windows laptop was finally dying on me, I still refused to give in to the idea of getting a Macbook for a change.

“Try a Mac. It’ll change your life,” were the words that my boyfriend would constantly tell me whenever I’m pulling my hair out searching for the next best laptop to purchase. And also because the stores were reducing the prices of old Macbooks due to the new releases.

And so, I caved in. I found someone on Carousell selling the 2015 version of the 13-inch Macbook pro with Retina Display and bought it at S$1,400.

And I have never regretted it since. In fact, I don’t think I will ever purchase a Windows laptop ever again.

And no, before you unleash all your hate comments on me, this is not a sponsored post. Neither am I slamming any Windows users because these are all based on my personal opinions and experience. I’m currently typing this article on a Windows computer at work and I’m perfectly fine with it.

Right, so, moving on.

1. They have the BEST screens

As someone who is constantly on Netflix, screens are very important to me. And well, I must say that Macbooks have the BEST screens ever in terms of high DPI display, as opposed to the various scaling issues we’ve experienced on Windows laptops. So Retina Macs are crystal clear winners.

2.  Security

No longer do I have to worry about getting viruses. Nuff’ said.

3. The software and start-up speed are excellent

Gone were the days when I had to wait for 5-10 mins for my Windows computer to start up, and then for it to hang on me when it’s starting up. For Mac, this never happens to me – or maybe not yet anyway. But what really amazes me is the almost-immediate start-up process and how fast software can boost up.

As a frequent user of Adobe software, I rarely have to wait for them to get their shit together when I click on the Adobe button – unlike the problem I always face on my Windows laptop.

People who uses such software often will get what I mean.

4. Light-weight, portable and has good battery life

Nope, I don’t have to lug a huge charger around and make sure that my laptop is constantly connected to a power plug. For a Macbook, all you need is one full charge and it can last for around 6-8 hours at a go – depending on your usage.

5. They come with amazing apps installed

A Mac comes with an impressive collection of very useful apps including Photos, iMovie, Garageband, Pages, Numbers, Keynote, FaceTime, iTunes, Maps and more already installed. So, you’ll be able to edit photos, make movies, create music and get your work done right off the bat, which for most people will be all they need.
