By now, everyone should have seen the video of the angry food lady who consistently berated the deaf and dumb cleaner. If not, here’s the video again.
According to The Straits Times, the cleaner, Mr Png Lye Heng, or fondly known as Ah Xing, has the intention to quit his job by the end of this month due to the incident that had gone viral.
He has worked in the foodcourt for about a year and had enjoyed his work. Despite the verbal abuse, he has forgiven Mrs Feng, the lady who had screamed at both him and his supervisor.
What happened
On 3 June 2016, 37-year-old Mrs Feng, who took half-day leave as she was having a cold, was having a meal with her husband when she saw something unusual and “dirty” in her food. She wanted to take a picture of it to lodge a complaint, but according to her, Mr Png cleared her plate despite her telling him not to do so three times.
Frustrated at that, she complained to her husband and when Mr Png’s manager tried to explain the situation, she screamed at him, mouthing these infamous sentences: “If you’re deaf, then don’t work! Go home and sleep. Just ask the Government to feed him. Go and be a beggar! I don’t care. He took my food!”
Posted by Facebook user Euphemia Lee, the video has since garnered over 1.5 million views. In a later interview, Mrs Feng then admitted that the words were said in anger, and she has apologized for her comments.
Singaporeans not happy
Following the Facebook update by The Straits Times about this news, out of the 170 Reactions at the time of writing, 16% reacted with “Angry”.
In the comments section, many readers wrote angry responses to Mrs Feng’s actions.
However, there’s one comment that stood out:

We’re not certain whether that is true, though.
Whatever it is, let’s just hope that Mr Png will find a new job soon after this!
