Pokémon Go fans, you’ve been lied to.
There have been rumours floating around that the game is set to be rolling out in Asia “within a few days”, and many Singaporeans have been getting ready their Pokémon gear (and fitness gear to prepare for hours of walking) for the moment it goes live on the App Store.
Before you berate these people for being gullible or “stupid”, this was reported by the Wall Street Journal, so it does carry a shred of reliability. Or at least, it’s supposed to.
Unofficial blog Pokemongoasia has even come up with a list of reasons as to why they believe Pokémon Go will be released here by today. Apparently they have “secret sources – people who know plans of the game”.
But just yesterday, fortyseven.com – the agency which represents Niantic, Pokémon Go’s developer – announced that they had no plans for the game to go live in other places as of yet.
The email read:
The team is currently heads down working on the game. We do not have any announced plans for countries beyond New Zealand, Australia, US and Germany at the moment.
Guess their “secret sources” aren’t that reliable after all. Bummer.
UK just made the list of countries where Pokémon Go can be found. The full list of countries can be found here:
And here’s Singapore, really far down the list.
So I guess there’s still quite a while before any of us can get our hands on a Charmander or Pikachu – unless you’re intending to hack the game. Which we’re totally not endorsing. But for now, watching people’s Pokémon Go gameplays on YouTube is the closest we can actually get to playing it.
