In the City of Dongguan, Pretty Girls Give Guys Money to be Their Girlfriend

And no, it’s legit and those girls are hot.

Sounds like a dream that’s not going to come true? You’re wrong.

This is taking place in Dongguan, South China right now.

Dongguan is a manufacturing hub and is known as the ‘World’s factory’, but it is also known by another unflattering name, the city of vices.

The population within Dongguan is extremely skewed with 89 men for every 100 women. And this has given rise to the trend of one man having several girlfriends at the same time.

Unlike the rest of China which has more men than women, Dongguan prefers female factory workers, which has led to an increase in the influx of women coming into the region to look for work.

One man came forward with his story and it’ll make you either angry or envious. He has two girlfriends and a lover. He initially approached his lover because he realised that she constantly looked sad when he saw her.

When he approached her, she (yes, she, not he) brought up the idea of them dating each other. He said that he could not have another girlfriend because he has two already and suggested being lovers instead. She agreed. He went on to claim that “they all know each other.”

Not sure what’s the difference between a girlfriend and a lover, but when it’s so complicated there, you can bet that it’s even more complicated than Facebook’s “It’s Complicated”. Get it?

Another man, Xiao Lin, also said that having multiple girlfriends is a sign of status, and if you have only one, you will be laughed at.

When asked about his approach to dating, he justified by saying that they’re still young and can still afford to play around for a few more years.

Doesn’t just make you feel…somewhat angry? Especially those #foreveralone?

In fact, he said, “Young and beautiful factory girls are everywhere. They’re simple and easy to get along with, why not have several?”

And if that’s not enough, these girls will spend money and lavish attention on their boyfriends in order to become the favourite.

One woman told her story, “If I saw that he had less than 200 yuan ($20) in his wallet, I will immediately add another several hundred. I was reluctant to spend any money on myself but anything he wanted to eat, I will buy for him.”
