For those of you who are not familiar with the idea of Tendon, it is essentially a Japanese rice bowl stacked with premium assorted Tempura ingredients such as prawns, fish fillet, vegetables that are always filled to the brim.

Not only are these tempura ingredients lightly crisp and tasty, they pair exceptionally well with the plump Japanese rice in every bowl. These Japanese rice bowls are then drizzled with glistening Japanese homemade sauce which further amplifies the distinctive taste in every bowl.

For those who are looking at trying something different, you can also get your hands on the Chilli Crab Tendon (S$14.80), prepared with homemade chilli crab sauce that comes with dollops of crab meat chunks. The sauce takes more than four hours to prepare, and freshly boiled chicken broth is also one of the main ingredients used.

The tempura ingredients found in each Chilli Crab Tendon includes fried prawns, asparagus, pumpkin, seasonal fish fillet, eggplant and kakiage!

And the best part? You can also get the Signature Tendon at S$13.80 each. Considering the quality and amount of ingredients used – 4 kinds of vegetables and 2 kinds of seafood –carrot, onion, pumpkin, edamame, prawn and scallop, I must say that they are more than value for money. In fact, we would even recommend you to share a bowl with your friends!

If you can’t finish the rice, you can also top up an additional S$2 for the combination of rice crisp, wasabi and hot dashi soup where you can douse the remaining rice in the hot dashi soup – another popular way of enjoying Tendon in Japan and also our favourite!
