Don’t Say Bojio: Free Escape Rooms in Causeway Point from 5 to 8 Oct

Ask anyone who lives in the north on what their favourite mall is, and chances are they’ll say Causeway Point.

After its renovation, the mall has even lured people from Jurong to visit it (because bus 187, yo). It has everything you need: two foodcourts (with one being fully halal) to ensure that you’re never hungry, Teo Heng KTV to unleash the Jay Chou in you while making sure that you don’t burn a hole in your stomach and a cinema to catch the latest Ah Boys to Men movie.

Let’s add one more reason for you to visit this large mall: FREE ESCAPE ROOMS.

Yeah, free. Escape rooms.

But before we head into the meat of it, let me just provide some facts to spice up the event.

Causeway Point, A Mall That Even Yishunites Love

This fancy-looking mall, located next to Woodlands MRT Station, has 250 retail outlets spread over five floors and a basement. Completed in 1998, this giant mall went through a major revamp in 2010, and since then, it has become the Orchard of the north.

Really, just ask any Woodlanders and if their favourite mall isn’t Causeway Point, we’ll eat six cockroaches in one minute.

Right, moving on.

There Are Going to be Escape Rooms in Causeway Point from 5 Oct to 8 Oct

The title is exactly what it is: a room you got to escape from, whether you lose a leg, a limb, or an eye in the process.

Alright, so you don’t exactly have to sacrifice yourself, but there are still some things you need, namely smartsteamwork and bravado.

You require the first because you would need to solve puzzles using clues, hints and strategy.

You need the second because you will be playing with your friends, and there’s no I in Friends. Oh wait, there is, but never mind.

The third is a definite must because an escape room is pretty darn scary. Not Annabelle scary. But close.

So how does an escape room work exactly?

In a conventional escape room, players are given a set time limit to reveal the secret plot which is hidden within the rooms. You would need to solve puzzles so that you can make it out of the room…”alive”.

But these escape rooms in Causeway Point? Well, it’s slightly different.

The Warner TV Escape Room Challenge

From 5-8 October, Warner TV will be holding its largest on-the-ground event in Singapore at Causeway Point, The Warner TV Escape Room Challenge.

At this event, there will be four show-themed rooms that will be filled with mysteries that fans will have to solve in order to get out in time.

The four rooms will be in the setting of four different TV series:

Gotham

This drama, which is in its fourth season now, takes place in the city Gotham, the place where Batman calls home.

By the way, Warner TV and Goody Feed are now collaborating on a new series called Yishun (we’re kidding…or are we?).

I’m not sure what’s scarier: being trapped in Gotham or being trapped in Yishun.

The Big Bang Theory / Young Sheldon

Now…if you think The Big Bang Theory is some sci-fi show, you’re too young. It’s a sitcom that uncles and aunties grow up with (according to my older colleagues, that is).

As for Young Sheldon, let’s just say that you’ll be travelling back in time to see Sheldon Cooper, one of the characters in The Big Bang Theory, surviving high school as a nine-year-old genius.

Or, to quote the Internet, a boy who has a “once-in-a-generation mind capable of advanced mathematics and science”.

Blindspot

“Hey guys, let’s take a cool Wefie here! Alright 3,2,1, say cheese!”

“Totally rocking it, buddy. You too, lady with the dragon tattoos.”

This crime drama isn’t your typical Crimewatch – it involves tattoos, crimes, FBI and most importantly, conspiracies. Everyone loves a good conspiracy, right? Right? No?

Lethal Weapon

If you’ve always wanted to be a cop and yet at the same time laugh at being one, here’s the room to be in. This cop-com (is there such a genre?) has a 90% audience approval rate in Rotten Tomatoes, so if they approve of it, you should, too, no?

Expectations

With such cool, kick-ass front line posters, you can only expect the escape rooms to be one thing.

COOLNESS OVERLOAD.

Except for The Big Bang Theory / Young Sheldon, because they’re supposed to make you laugh.

Here are some interesting things you should take note of:

  • The more rooms you complete, the more attractive the prizes get!
  • Participants can form a group of up to 4 pax.
  • You are given 5 minutes to complete each room. Whenever you fail to solve each room, you will be led out of the particular room, but you can try again (i.e. multiple tries are allowed…if you’re up to it, that is!)

Apart from the Escape Room challenge, there will also be fringe activities such as a Young Sheldon photo booth (maybe you can look as slick as the kid), Arrow Shooting game (time to channel my inner Hawkeye- I mean Green Arrow) and stage activities. And of course, exciting prizes to be won!

And did I mention that it’s FREE?

Yeah, it’s free to join the event.

Eh, wait, Bro. Don’t rush over yet.
