Don’t Say Bojio: Taobao / Tmall Pre-GSS Sale in S’pore with Free Delivery & Flash Deals

It’s mid-May, and you know what that means:

The Great Singapore Sale is gonna be here soon!

But don’t pop your confetti bombs just yet, because I’ve something just as, if not more exciting for you:

Our favourite online retailer, Taobao, is releasing a pre-emptive, honest to goodness PREGSS promotion, and you’re invited!

Excited? Because we sure are! So without further ado…

Let’s get right down to business!

200RMB OFF sea shipping to SG

Online shopping is amazing. You can do it without getting out of your bed and you won’t be tired out at the end of it.

But one thing that isn’t so cool about online shopping is shipping fees. So you’ll control your spending because, well, if it’s too heavy, you’re going to pay a bomb for it anyway.

Guess what? You don’t have to worry about this during the pre-GSS period.

Accumulate a buy order of 200RMB and above during the stipulated period of time, and earn a whopping 200RMB OFF sea shipping to Singapore!

The best strategy to “exploit” this discount for all it’s worth? Purchase up to 20kg worth of products using Sea Shipping.

Because according to our old nemesis Math…

19kg x 9.4 (cost for Subsequent Kg) + 26 (cost for First Kg) = 204.6 RMB

204.6 RMB – 200 RMB (discount rate) = 4.6 RMB

Now, I might be no Albert Einstein, but even I can tell that there’s a literal steal going on here.

Also, if you’re wondering how 20kg of products look like… just envision a 20-inch hand carry luggage.

Alternatively, you can approach it by measurements if you’re the OCD kind:

49cm x 49cm x 49cm

No better time to whip out your measuring tape, really 😉

Note: by 17 May 2018, Singapore users will have the choice to go by KG OR CBM when placing sea shipping orders

What are you waiting for? Time to get your friends together and go crazy online.

Card benefits

It seems that UOB cardmembers are in for a treat too.

During the period, UOB cardmembers are entitled to S$10 cashback with min. S$200 spend.

This will however only be extended to the first 1,000 redemptions, so I guess it’s the old game of fastest fingers win. 🙂

The launch of Tmall Signature Store

This is admittedly kind of unrelated, but believe me when I say that this is gold.

Just a brief introduction: Tmall is an official store that’s run by the Tmall Overseas team.

Which makes you think; so what? Why do I need to know about it? What’s in it for me?

Well, as it turns out… quite a lot.

See, items sold in Tmall are specially picked for overseas users and must have met a certain standard in terms of quality and popularity amongst their overseas shoppers.

What this means is that instead of having to filter through countless numbers of incessant products yourself (and wondering if the dress you’ve bought for yourself will turn out to be for an infant), they do it for you. No more stress-inducing browsing; it’s all the best, and only the best for you!

To cap it off, all items in the store are shipped free to Singapore during the promotional period!

What better time to try it out, really?

AND in the case of damaged or faulty products, items from the store are covered by their local returns service. So really, apart from distracting you from your studies, there’s really no downside to it all.

The Taobao Experience

Like every other retailing site, Taobao starts off with you heading to their website. Do not be alarmed, however, by the full frontal Chinese the webpage flaunts openly in your face.

Simply use Google translate and you’re safe (at least agar agar lah).

Thereafter, register for an account, input your particulars and you’re all set to go!

Alternatively, you can also use their app.

Don’t say bojio on how to use ah!

Last but not least

It seems that Taobao’s really going all out here as they’ve even come up with shopping vouchers and flash deals!

In case you’re wondering what a flash deal is, it’s basically the platform giving you crazy low prices for selected products at certain times of the day.

For example, a $99 headphone could cost just $20. #TrueStory.

These will be up for grabs on the Pre-GSS campaign page, so stay tuned.

So mark down your calendars

It’s time to shop to your heart’s content, and you don’t even have to break the bank for it!

Promotional date: 17 – 20 May 2018
Address: Whenever you are, even in the toilet if you’re like my colleague who bought a few dresses after a toilet break

Happy shopping! 🙂
