Elderly Woman Hit By Car in Carpark at Tanglin Halt

On 14 Oct, citizen journalism website STOMP reported on a car accident that happened at Tanglin Halt Road on 10 Oct.

An elderly woman was crossing the road and making her way into a carpark when a car hit her shopping trolley from the side before hitting her.

He Escorted Her To A Nearby Coffee Shop

According to the elderly woman’s daughter, Chan, the driver drove her mother to a nearby coffeeshop.

Her mother had gotten a neighbour to help write Chan’s number on a piece of paper and passed it to the driver.

Allegedly, she had asked the driver to call her but he never did.

Instead, he had rushed off, claiming that he had a meeting to attend. He gave the elderly woman $50 and allegedly left without leaving his details.

Elderly Woman Had To Undergo Operation For Her Injury

According to Chan, she was only notified about the incident when a passerby called her while she was working.

She rushed down to the scene and sent her mother to a nearby clinic.

They were then referred to the A&E at the Singapore General Hospital (SGH).

The elderly woman even had to undergo an operation for her injured hand and is now facing trouble even doing simple tasks like bathing and cooking.

The police confirmed that a report was lodged regarding the incident.

  • (a) to a fine not exceeding $3,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 12 months; and
  • (b) in the case of a second or subsequent conviction, to a fine not exceeding $5,000 or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 2 years.

By not leaving his particulars, not driving the elderly woman to a nearby clinic and giving just $50 for medical fees, he might have committed an offence.
