Feel Like Melting Since June 2017? Well, Here’s the Bad News

If, in the last few days, you think that an egg will be cooked should you put it outdoors, you’re quite right: the sun has been merciless recently.

According to the Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS), the dry and hot weather is caused by the Southwest Monsoon season, which lasts from June to September every year.

The MSS has said that in the first half of June, we’ll experience temperatures reaching up to 35 degrees Celsius.

On other days, the temperature will hover between 25 to 34 degrees Celsius.

There’ll also be short thundery showers in the late mornings or early afternoons on three or five days during the first two weeks of June.

As the Southwest Monsoon period will only end in October, you can expect more people in the beach in the next few months, and also more people servicing their air-con.

And just so you know, last year (2016) is the hottest year in record, with a record of an annual mean temperature at 28.4 degrees Celsius.

Last month, the mean temperature was 28.4 degrees Celsius, which is 0.1 degrees Celsius warmer than the average mean temperature for the month of May. *crossing fingers that we won’t hit another new record this year*

Guess climate change is really coming. You really need to service your air-con, man.

But anyway…unusually warm weather in Singapore might have become a norm.
