Do you remember the reckless driver who dragged a TP officer along the road?

My colleague penned a very detailed article on that incident, you can check it out here.
But if you’re too lazy, well, my colleague managed to summarise the entire incident in five succinct points.

  • On 17 Nov, a Maserati driver dragged a TP officer along the road for close to a hundred metres after being stopped for enforcement check.
  • The driver is in the midst of a nine-month driving suspension (4 July to 3 April)
  • The driver had been banned from driving for 10 years (2 Dec 2001 to 1 Dec 2011)
  • Driver’s father had been paying his fines for him
  • The father is apologizing on his behalf

Does it ring a bell now?

Yeah, on top of that, he is allegedly also a loan shark.

Oh man, the driver in question has really a penchant for breaking the law.

For those who are curious, his name is Lee Cheng Yan and has been slapped with 15 additional charges in court yesterday, Channel NewsAsia reported.

The charges

In total he has amassed 23 charges; the latest charges being traffic-related.

As mentioned, he is suspended from driving till 3 April 2018 but that didn’t stop him from going behind the wheel as he allegedly drove a car on three separate occasions to Kaki Bukit Road 2 and Potong Pasir Avenue 3 between 9 and 16 Nov.

Oh, without insurance as well.

For that, he is being charged with three counts of driving while under disqualification.

He was also charged with nine offences relating to the 17 Nov incident— driving without insurance, failing to wear a seat belt, failing to stop when ordered by an officer and perverting the course of justice.

Boy, that was a mouthful.

FYI, this won’t be the full set of charges as Deputy Public Prosecutor Quek Jing Feng mentioned to the court that the investigations are still ongoing.

Currently

He is clearly in hot soup.

He is currently out on $35,000 bail and will be back in on 25 Jan next year.

We will have to wait and see how this unfolds.
