Scammer Posed as Li Nanxing to Borrow $1,800 from a Fan

If your office building is like ours, you’d have seen a video in your lift lobby’s TV panel, whereby Li Nanxing educates us about scams, reminding us about the famous “别慌。别信。别给。” advice that you need to tell your parents about.

Ironically, a scammer decided to impersonate the face of anti-scam, Li Nanxing, and got burned of course.

M’sia Will Scrap Plans For Singapore-KL High Speed Rail

On 28 May, Malaysia Prime Minister Mahathir confirmed that Malaysia will scrap the HSR project.

It was a move they had to take to avoid bankruptcy, he claimed.

“It’s not beneficial. It’s going to cost us a huge sum of money. We’ll make no money at all from this arrangement.”

However, he claimed to not know whether the decision was communicated to Singapore. A spokesperson from the Transport Ministry said they have yet to receive any official notice from the Malaysian government.

Previously, the prime minister said that Malaysia is looking at how it can reduce the penalty cost for breaking the contract.

I don’t know about you, but even though I am an ardent fan of the HSR, I’m hoping the project won’t be continued.

Because the only way for it to continue is for Singapore to give even more concessions (read: money or foot more of the bill) in building it. At least that’s what it looks like to me now.

I’ll just take my 4-hour coach to KL.

If you are, I’ve got some really good news for you, at least if your deduction date falls on last Thursday lah.

Prudential said that they’ll give $100 to all Prudential customers who’s deduction date falls on 24 May 2018.

Even those who did not have the wrong amount of premium deducted.

Prudential Singapore CEO Wilf Blackburn said that this was the “right thing to do” as they think that all customers who were contacted on that day have experienced some sort of inconvenience.

The error was understood to have came about from a missing decimal place. This resulted in customers paying 100 times of their usual monthly payment.

So for those lucky people out there, you’ll receive the money by 3 June.

And guess what? The total amount they had to fork out is SGD$2.2 million.

That’s literally a million-dollar error.

Man Punched By Grab Driver Because He Refused To Cancel Ride At First

Here’s a gentle reminder for all young parents out there: if your kid is under 1.35 metres in height, you need to indicate that in your Grab booking.

Because it’s against the law for them to ferry you without a child booster seat.

Or you might just end up like this man.

On 28 May, it was reported that a Grab driver punched a man, Henry He, in the face, fracturing his teeth.

Mr He, who was heading to Choa Chu Kang from Yishun, ordered a Grab ride. He was with his wife and two children.

When the driver arrived in a Black Audi (why people seem to get luxury Grab cars like Audi or BMW when I always kena a Toyota), he saw that the 5-year-old son was below the height limit.

Both rider and driver agreed that the man should make another booking, and the driver drove off.

He made a booking using his Ryde app.

However, the driver return to the carpark later and ask why he did not cancel the ride. He replied that the driver should cancel since it was him who refuse to take them on his car.

Eventually, Mr He agreed to cancel the ride, but just as he was about to board the Ryde car, he was punched in the face.

Four of his tooth were fractured and his dental implants and surgery could cost up to $30,000. The police are currently investigating the incident.

What do you think? Who do you think was at fault?

Me? I just have this feeling that that’s only his side of the story. If he’s as nice as how the report makes him out to be, there’s no reason why the driver will punch him in the face.

And remember, he’s the typical nasty customer who made a mistake and didn’t want to rectify it. (Cancellation rate affects incentives, after all.)

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Believed to be tipsy, he raised his voice and disturbed the other customers.

He ordered another bottle of wine, which was brought to him by the assistant manager. She told him to stop disturbing the other customers or she’d call the police on him.

As she turned around, he squeezed her buttocks.

So, the police were called.

Four officers reached the scene and he turned violent. He lashed out when he was being handcuffed and even headbutted an officer.

Throughout his journey, he continuously peppered the officers with vulgarities, even after he reached Tanglin Police Divisional Headquarters.

For molesting the woman, he could’ve been jailed for up to two years and fined or caned. For assaulting a police officer, he could’ve been jailed for up to seven years and fined or cane.

Of course, he was sentenced to 3 months’ jail time with a fine of $6,500.
