The New Punggol Container Cafes Make Tebing Lane Even More Happening Now

I’ve got good news and bad news.

Good news, 7 new container cafes just opened in Tebing Lane, Punggol.

Bad news, you’re gonna have to keep coming back to this ulu place over and over again!

Opened in February 2017, a container park of 7 cafes and bars now draws crowds from all over the country. Each container is quite small in terms of seating, but there is a large outdoors seating area just outside, surrounded by the containers.

I’d say the container cafes are super cool, but the Sun is going to disagree, so it is quite recommended to come in the evening instead.

Below are the 7 cafes.

D’Grill

This place serves primarily grilled food. Yeah, who woulda thunk it? They specialise in seafood, so expect dishes like grilled seafood platters, Hot Plate Sambal Stingray and even fusion food like Deep Fried Soft Shell Crab Pasta.

Big Fish Small Fish

When you think of fish and chips, images of large plates in restaurants probably come to mind. Big Fish Small Fish challenges that by serving the dish in paper takeaway containers, sort of like ordering the Taiwanese large chicken cutlets, but not really. You have a choice between 5 types of fish: Dory, Yellowfin, Red Tilapia, Sea Bass and Salmon.

Seoul Good Dessert Coffee

Three guesses what this place serves. It’s got bingsu! Seoul Good is also one of the only places that serve yoghurt-based bingsu, in addition to the standard condensed milk ones. Oh, they also serve fried chicken, so you can get most of your Korean food fix here.

L’Chaim Bistro

This place is more of a bar than what it says in the name, and specialises in craft beers. They also have Heineken and Guinness, but what’s the point of coming here if not for the hipster craft beer? In terms of food, they apparently have a changing Peranakan menu of finger food, so it should be sufficiently hipster with the fusion style.

Pump Station 1965

Pump Station is the most distinct looking container here, with a petrol theme décor that has you sitting on oil drum chairs. It’s also the only container there with a second floor, so you could go up and look down on everybody else, ha! This place is also a bar, serving a wide range of beers, wine and cocktails, along with the usual selection of finger food, like their signature Pump Chicken Wings.

Boost @ Banks

This is a bar, with darts. That’s pretty much it, as details have been scarce due to the place being not open yet. Expect alcohol, and a chill place to lepak.

LeungKee Healthy Dessert

As the name suggests, this place serves dessert, but mostly of the Chinese variety. Expect lots of fruits, and traditional desserts like Chin Chow and almond paste. They have desserts of both the cold/frozen and hot kind, and also unique ones like Durian Sherbet.

Punggol can be seriously quite ulu, but these 7 new container cafes are trying very hard to change that. With the pool hall and reservoir nearby, though, this place is shaping up to be quite the exciting new gathering place.
