Ladies, ladies, remember the nights where you sit in bed and read the WHOLE book from the Sweet Valley High series instead of sleeping when you should?

All the sufferings you got the next day at school were worth it as long as you knew the ending, right?

Now, prepare your hearts for the next big thing – Sweet Valley High MOVIE! Yes, it is going to be adapted into a movie like finally, after a long time.

Previously slated as a movie musical written by Juno’s Diablo Cody, it was removed from the original plans and sit on the shelves, gathering dust – until now!

According to Deadline, Kirsten “Kiwi” Smith and Harper Dill have been hired by Paramount Pictures to rewrite Sweet Valley High for the big screen.

Both writers have experience in such “chick flicks” with Smith as the co-writer on Legally Blonde and 10 Things I hate about you, and Dill wrote The Mick, a new Fox show.

Smith and Dill have been working through the beloved series of Sweet Valley High, noting the various colourful material that they can work with.

With the exclusive Unicorn Club by Jessica Wakefield and Lila Fowler having some familiarity with Means Girls, and the crazy soap operatic plotlines, the writers definitely have lots to work on.

The movie is depending on the teens of the 80s and 90s – now women in their 30s and 40s, who despite working for more than 10 years, still reduced themselves to giggling teenage girls at the thought of “meeting” the cast of Sweet Valley High on the big screen.

Okay, maybe some guys as well who has become uncles.

Anyways, these women know that they are reading trash (if they ever pick up a Sweet Valley High again), but that nostalgia is hard to shake off. Those who spent their afternoons or long nights without sleep in Sweet Valley High will love to spend time with the Wakefield twins, and Lila Fowler on the big screen.

The series of Sweet Valley High is written by Francine Pascal and launched in 1983. With over 600 books to take inspiration from, we are sure the writers Smith and Dill have plenty to read before the script is formed.

For now, we will have to wait for more details to be released as nothing is known besides the identity of the writer.

While the movie is confirmed to have a strong interest (some even said it may be a musical), we will have to wait for a release date and cast prediction!
