How would you feel if you were accepted into a polytechnic, even though your grades shouldn’t make the cut?

Happy AF, right? In fact, you can compare it to getting high. Over the moon, I mean.

Then you go to school, and they tell you, “Sorry ah, it’s a mistake. Please go home.”

You’ll be thinking

But that’s exactly what happened. Right here in Singapore.

Republic Poly Accepted 16 Students, Then Told Them To Go Home Because It’s a Mistake

Image: straitstimes.com

On 24 Apr, it was reported that Republic Polytechnic (RP) sent acceptance letters to 16 students by mistake.

One of the sixteen students said that she received an acceptance letter from an Institute of Technical Education (ITE) back in January.

Then, she received one from RP as well.

Naturally, she was over the moon. But that didn’t last.

On her first day of school on 16 Apr, she was told that her grades didn’t make the cut so she can’t go to the school.

RP’s registrar, Mr Shanmugasundar W. said that the school has apologised to the sixteen students who were accepted by mistake.

He said that the school discovered “some discrepancies” in the submitted and actual exam results of 16 students.

The school decided to reject them in order to be fair to other unsuccessful applicants.

All 16 students have been considered for placements in ITE or other polytechnics, and the school will refund the affected students their enrolment fees.

Imposter Posing As Fly Entertainment Agent Asks For Physical Intimacy

There’s a reason why the talent industry is so dubious.

Advertisements

You have so many shady companies out there who makes you pay for making a portfolio, but don’t get you work.

Plus, it’s typically the beautiful girls and handsome boys that want to get into the industry.

It’s like a free-flow buffet for sinister perverts.

Like this “Janet Wang”, who claimed to be an agent for Fly Entertainment.

Founded and run by Irene Ang (or Phua Chu Kang’s wife as most of us know her as), Irene has stepped forward to warn the public about this serial imposter.

Janet Wang would go online and post casting calls for commercial gigs on freelance model Facebook group pages.

When interested parties reached out to the agent, Wang would say she works for Fly Entertainment.

She’ll also tell them that to get the job, they must do intimate things like hugging and kissing.

Ang said that a person who went by the same profile picture and name tried the trick four years ago.

She clarified that Fly Entertainment “does not engage in or facilitate any transaction involving physical intimacy in exchange for work”, and asked for suspicious requests to be directed to them.

She said that the talent agency will take action.

Moral of the story, kids, don’t be so taken in by the chance for fame you’d do anything to get it.

Grab opportunities as they come, but make sure they’re legit first.

“MUIS Cancelled Halal Certificates of 63 Eateries in S’pore”: Fake News

Fake news is getting worse in Singapore.

But this time, they’ve gone too far. They crossed a line that shouldn’t be crossed in Singapore.

They touched our food.

Okay, kidding. Every single piece of fake news is bad.

Image: shinming.com

Recently, two restaurant owners experienced a drastic drop in customers. They’re Madam Ng Bee Leng of Jian Fa Seafood BBQ and Ms Feny Eliana of Penyet Town.

Their restaurants were two among 63 eateries identified as having lost their halal certification in a viral online message.

Turns out that the list was a fake.

The Islamic Religious Council of Singapore (MUIS) said that the claim is “absolutely fake”.

The list also includes several 4 Fingers Crispy Chicken outlets, Encik Tan at One KM and more.

MUIS has lodged a police report over the message and urge the public not to spread unverified information to others.

If you really want a list of halal-certified restaurants, check out the list at MUIS’s website.

Pregnant Woman Caught on CCTV Tripping 4-Year-Old Boy, Becomes Most Hated Woman on the Internet

I must say, kids are annoying. But it takes a special breed of person to really hurt them, besides parents disciplining them lah.

And it’s the same across the world.

When a Singaporean man was caught on CCTV hitting a kid at Sunshine Childhood Playground @ Northpoint, chaos erupted on the internet.

Wait till you see what this lady did to a 4-year-old boy.

According to the report, a 4-year-old kid ran past her into the restaurant and a door curtain hit her.

Annoyed, when he ran out of the restaurant, she stuck out her leg and tripped him up.

Image: scmp.com

Falling to the ground, the woman and her husband continued eating while the child’s mother came to help the boy.

The boy, who has a heart defect, was taken to the hospital where he was diagnosed with a mild concussion.

He told his mother that he was tripped by the lady and she went back to the shop to check the CCTV footage.

She was so angry that she immediately lodged a police report.

After the news went viral, the woman turned herself in to the police and volunteered to pay for the medical fees.

The police wanted to detain her for 10 days and impose a 1,000 yuan ($211.84) fine, but discovered that she was 7-months pregnant.

And the woman became the most hated person on the Chinese internet.

But here’s what I think, both parties are at fault.

The lady for losing her cool at the kid and the kid for causing trouble to other people.

But since we all say that kids don’t know any better, then the mother should’ve taught him better.

Plus, he has a heart defect yet she still let him run around like that? Not scared ah.

British Financial Analyst Jailed For 4 Weeks After Punching Taxi Driver

One of the toughest jobs in Singapore is probably driving a taxi.

You have no safety net, no basic income and you have to deal with all sorts of people.

Like British financial analyst, John Jefferson who is the very definition of a troublesome customer.

Image: todayonline.com

On May 2017, Jefferson got into Mr Sukhdew Singh Banta Singh’s taxi.

He told Mr Singh to drive to River Valley Close but changed his mind midway and told him to go to Kim Seng instead.

When the taxi reached Kim Seng, he told the driver he doesn’t want to go there anymore and made Mr Singh drive in circles.

The taxi eventually stopped at Robertson Pier.

Then Jefferson started vebally abusing the taxi driver and refused to pay the fare.

He called for a Grab car on his phone.

When his Grab car arrived and he tried to enter the car, Jefferson punched him in the left eye, knocking his spectacles off.

The Grab driver called the police and that’s when Jefferson finally paid the $12 fare.

Mr Singh was taken to Tan Tock Singh Hospital where he was given 2 days MC. But seeing how he’s a taxi driver and technically-speaking, self-employed, it means a loss of income for two days.

Jefferson was sentenced to 4 weeks jail on 24 Apr.

His lawyer, Tan Jun Yin, said that the offence “was out of character” for Jefferson and that he has a low risk of re-offending.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
