On 7 May, this cobra appeared in a landed property near Dover MRT.

Carlos Chua, a full-time NSF was the first one to notice the snake and told his family to stay indoors. He also instructed for their 12-year-old beagle to be locked up.

Then, he left at 8.30 am for work.

His maid, a Filipino who only wanted to be known as Ms Mhelyn decided to do something about the situation.

Holding on to a one-metre broom handle, she tried to chase the 50-cm long snake out but it got agitated instead.

That was when she started hitting the cobra, and in the end, split its body into two.

By the way, she was chanting something while doing it.

Then, she threw the carcass away.

Remember what I said about getting a maid like her? I’m kidding.

Please don’t subject your maid to that ordeal, it’s dangerous.

Call the Acres rescue hotline at 9783 7782 instead. You can think of it as them rescuing you from the snake.

Or in this case, rescuing the snake from maids like her.

But watch the video for yourself, the maid is scary AF.

Grab Reducing Discounts For Riders And Incentives For Drivers

Instead, they’re switching them to other forms of rewards.

If you’re a Grab user, you’ll probably realise that there’s a reduction in the number of promo codes offered to customers.

Grab Singapore head Lim Kell Jay said that this has been happening “for a while”, and isn’t in response to the loss of their competitor, Uber.

Instead of giving discounts to riders, Grab is switching to a new form of reward system. Riders are able to earn points for rides taken.

And using these points, riders can choose to redeem rewards from Grab’s reward catalogue. In an overview of the situation, Mr Lim feels that it’s more exciting as there won’t be a limit on redemption for the rewards, unlike the promo codes.

As for cutting incentives for drivers, Grab says that they’re switching to a new system as well.

The transport company has partnered with various car leasing companies and petrol stations to give discounted petrol and car rentals to their drivers.

This will help the drivers cut back on costs of driving for Grab which, in turn, will increase their revenue.

Japan Going All Out In Bid For KL-Singapore High-Speed Rail, Offers Facial Recognition Technology

When it comes to Japan, we know that quality is assured.

So how happy will you be to know that Japan is building the KL-Singapore high-speed rail? Very, right?

Japan is more than happy to build it for us too.

Image: channelnewsasia.com

So much so that they’re offering their facial recognition technology to sweeten the deal.

Japan’s Ambassador to Malaysia Makio Miyagawa said that they’ll be including their facial recognition technology when building the high-speed rail to facilitate smooth and fast clearance at immigration checkpoints.

He believes that without fast immigration clearance, the high-speed rail experience wouldn’t be completed.

And he knows what he’s talking about since Japan was one to invent the high-speed railway.

Which is, by the way, accident-free since 1964.

Japan is willing to transfer its bullet train technology to Singapore and Malaysia so that our own people can operate the system from the get-go.

I don’t know about you but I’m really hoping the Japanese gets the job. I’ll feel safer.

Don’t you think so?

Babysitter Took in Ex-Convict Out of Kindness, He Repaid Her By Ill-Treating Toddler Under Her Care

It’s guys like this that gives ex-convicts a bad name. It’s because of people like him that no one is willing to trust an ex-convict, no matter how much he wants to change.

On 8 May, it was reported that this ex-convict ill-treated a two-year-old baby girl, causing injuries to her genitals. She had to undergo surgery.

Suhaimi Juma’at approached his cousin for help after his release from prison as he had nowhere to stay.

His cousin introduced him to this babysitter, who decided to take him in for free. Suhaimi offered to take care of the baby when she was not in the house.

He bought a straw of methamphetamine, or Ice, on 24 Feb 2017. He consumed about 3g of it at one go.

The next day, he babysat the girl.

The baby girl defecated outside the toilet at around 4 pm the next day, agitating him.

Then when he was cleaning her, she started playing with water in another pail.

Angry, he started rubbing her private parts roughly, causing tears. It was said that he even touched her internally.

When the toddler was brought home an hour later, they discovered blood in her pampers.

She was brought to KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital and had to undergo surgery for two tears found in her private parts.

For one count of child abuse and 4 drug-related offences, he was sentenced to 10 years and nine months’ jail and eight strokes of the cane.
