It can be quite a hassle when you download an app just to try it and you uninstall it 5 minutes later because you don’t like it. Or, you want to download many different apps but the limited space in your phone does not allow you to – a problem we all face.
These problems can be solved with the new “mini program” feature embedded in the popular messaging app WeChat in China, which allows users to open certain apps that are already downloaded in the WeChat app. This was announced by Chinese technology giant Tencent.
According to Sina News Report, various apps such as dianping.com, the restaurant review site and taxi-hailing app Didi Chuxing are already supporting the feature. Users will not have to download these apps in order to use them as these apps can already be opened if they use WeChat.
Some apps are already using this technology
Some Chinese technology insiders believe that this “mini program” feature will not become a trend since they are only the simplified version. In order to use the full features of the app, users will still have to download the app on their phones.
But I mean, this “mini program” feature is still great for users who are new to these apps and simply want to give these apps a try, right? It is also great if the user only uses the app once in a while, hence there is no need to download the original app on his phone. It’s also perfect if you want to save your data!
In the WeChat app, you can also choose which apps you want to have in your WeChat app in the setting. This helps to cater to every user’s needs.
This “mini program” feature is definitely worth trying out, whether you are already tech-savvy or completely new to such technology.
