There’s something to be said about having your wedding day screwed up. Not only will your wife blame you, you’ll feel bad because it’s her special day.

But you know what’s even worse?

When you shell out the cash for a “proper” wedding and it gets screwed up anyway.

That was what happened to Facebook user, Ivan Tan, who decided to take to Facebook to talk about his experience.

Paid $2,700 For Wedding Photo Package, Got Back Crap Instead

On 15 Aug, Ivan wrote about his disastrous wedding photo experience on Facebook.

Ivan claimed that he and his wife decided to go for Reflection Photography’s 3-in-1 package with includes photography, videography and a photobooth.

And things seemed pretty okay until they received their wedding day album.

According to Ivan, 90% of the shots were overexposed.

And the photographer doesn’t seem to know the basics like angles and shadows.

Lest you’re not aware, “overexposed” meant it’s too bright. There are technical techniques to prevent that during the photoshoot itself, and they can also be fixed during editing (though it’s always best to do so during the photoshoot).

Oh yeah, that’s why you shouldn’t just call yourself a photographer just because you know how to press a button #justsaying #IThinkOurPhotographerSaidThatToOurBossBefore

The couple was extremely disappointed, considering the fact that the entire group of brothers and sisters, and the couples themselves, stood under the sun for two hours.

Plus, they travelled all the way to The Singapore Flyer to take photos with “the stairs and railings”.

Chief Wedding Photographer Blamed The Subjects For The Photos

Looking at the photos that were submitted to the couple, you would’ve thought the studio would’ve tried to calm the couple down and clear up the photographer’s mess, right?

Nope.

According to Ivan, the chief photographer said that he had seen the photos and he thought they were “okay”.

He added that this is the first time the studio has “encountered such feedback”.

And to end off, he claimed that the photographer assigned to the couple is the “TOP photographer with more than 10 wedding shoot experience”.

And to add salt to the wound, the studio blamed the subjects (the wife and husband) as well as the environment for the bad photos.

Ivan claimed that the chief photographer said, “We neglected the fact that we have to give quality photos rather than quantity.”

The couple has allegedly received 800 photos in total.

Ivan ended the post by telling others to be careful of such wedding photography services.

The Internet Responded

Within the span of 3 days, Ivan’s Facebook post has hit more than 4.3k shares, no doubt helped by the many wedding pictures that were uploaded in the post.

While many chipped in with their opinions on how best to take the photos

And some just feeling that the couple made a very expensive mistake.

There are some kindhearted netizens who wanted to help the couple.

Not by giving them money for another photography session, but donating their time and photo editing skills instead.

Nice one lah.

So here’s the moral of the story.

One, not every wedding photography service is a good one, make sure you review through their portfolio carefully before you make the same mistake. Not I say one ah, is Ivan (the Facebook user and victim) say one.

And two, always ask to review the photos on the wedding photographer’s camera. It’s DSLR and there’s always a way to view it on the go.

Of course, you’ll miss minor details because it’s such a small screen but hey, overexposure and background are just too big to be missed. Trust me, whenever whenever we take any pictures or videos, our guy is always spending a lot of time walking around just to ensure the lighting is okay, which our boss is always complaining because “eh I pay you to walk walk see see ah!?”

Hopefully he sees this article.
