Another beautiful day, another moron for me to berate. Honestly, some people never fail to amaze. In fact, perhaps I should suggest for my editor to create a whole new category for these articles.

Yeah, maybe the category can be called “A fool a week” or something (I wish).

I have a feeling I’ll be writing articles like this for a long time to come.

(I hope not)

Without further ado, let’s see what we have here.

Lam Chen Wee, 26, panicked when he saw a police road block while he was driving along the slip road of Jalan Toa Payoh. This was because he had consumed at least half a bottle of cognac at a club.

Ahh, drinking and driving. A fool who has no regard for the lives of others. Classic. Since there’s a road block up ahead, what else could he have done, right?

So, in an attempt to avoid being caught by the police, Lam decided to drive against the flow of the traffic for at least 300 meters.  A total of four vehicles flashed their high beams at Lam while he was reversing his vehicle (Don’t say people never try to warn you hor).

At the moment of the incident, Lam had 3 passengers in his car (Great, ownself die not enough, want others die also).

Okay. If you find this story to be familiar, it’s because this isn’t new. This case of reckless driving happened during the wee hours of 26 Jan, 2017.

So why bring it up now?

Apparently, on 22 Nov (Wed), Lam was sentenced to four weeks of jail and fined $2700. On top of that, he has also been banned from driving for three years.

Lam, now 27 years of age, pleaded guilty to the following charges.

  • Dangerous driving
  • Drink driving
  • Failing to stop when ordered by a police officer
  • Leaving a vehicle in a manner likely to endanger others

Sounds about right to me.

If it were up to me, he will never be touching the steering wheels ever again. Just saying. Three years doesn’t seem like a heavy enough punishment to me, considering the amount of lives he endangered that day. Road hazards like him should be kept off the roads at all times.

Last but not least, please lah. If you decide to drink, just don’t drive.
