YES 933 DJs Try Buzzfeed “Worst” Sandwiches and Realize They Taste Great

Recently, Buzzfeed learnt a lesson: don’t insult Singapore food, because Singaporeans take their food seriously. Their recent article has created quite a hoo-ha, and even after they’ve apologized, it seemed like that damage is done: even the Singapore Tourism Board has jumped into the bandwagon to subtly defend our food.

But how about the other “worst” sandwiches that Buzzfeed mention? Are they really bad, or could it just be as good as our ice-cream sandwich?

Well, the DJs in YES 933 decided to taste out those, and the results will shock you are pretty interesting.

In conjunction with their “Bread Day”, the three DJs in the morning shift of YES 933, namely Lin Peifen, Zhong Kunhua and Jeff tried a few variety of sandwiches mentioned in the Buzzfeed article.

Subject 1: Bread with mayonnaise
In the Buzzfeed article, it was mentioned that the filling of mayonnaise and tomato is bad. Jeff tried it and mentioned that it’s almost like butter. Bread with butter—isn’t that something we often have?

Subject 2: Bread with kiwi
The Buzzfeed article indicates that it’s “nonsense”. Peifen tried it and seemed to love it—in fact, she referred to the kiwi as a healthy substitute for something sweet. Man, now I feel like having one of this.

Subject 3: Bread with instant noodles
After Singaporeans’ uproar, Buzzfeed changed the ice-cream bread to this, and the moment Kunhua bit it, he went “eh, not bad eh!” He even added mayonnaise because it was a little too dry. It’s full of carbo but hey, Buzzfeed, read this: it’s not just edible, but good, too!

Subject 4: Bread with kaya and luncheon meat (not from Buzzfeed but from their listeners)
I don’t know what they were thinking: even without their test, I know it’ll taste awesome. Anything with luncheon meat is good.

Oh, and just for your info, my favourite DJ Lin Peifen was just playing the role of “Auntie Lin”—she is usually not so “three-eight”!
