Johor Bahru’s retail scene is always evolving and there are new malls and mixed developments being announced from time to time.
This year, JB residents and Singaporeans alike can look forward to the opening of Paradigm Mall, set to open its doors in November 2017.
If you’re wondering what all the fuss is about, just read on and you’d most likely take a few days of your Annual Leave this November to visit this one-of-a-kind mall:
It’s The Largest Mall in the South of Peninsula Malaysia
With a build-up of over 2 million square feet, this mall is going to be massive. There would be small retail outlets as well as large outlets for their anchor tenants. The building is going up on 13 acres of land and will feature 6 floors of shopping outlets.
And just for comparison’s sake, VivoCity is at 1.5 million square feet.
It’s Going to Have an Ice Skating Rink
For the first time, the mall will feature an ice skating rink that’s going to be the largest in Johor, and Singaporeans can benefit too, especially with skating fees which are no doubt going to be more affordable. The Ice Skating rink will also open up opportunities for trainers to conduct classes, which means you’ll be able to learn how to skate on ice yourself.
It has more than 600 shops
From domestic brands to several international ones, shoppers are going to be spoiled for choice. There’s going to be an abundance of food and beverage outlets to choose from, as well as apparel, gadgets and so much more.
And just to compare again, VivoCity has 340 shops.
It’s Going to be At Jalan Skudai
Jalan Skudai is one of the main roads in JB, making this mall super accessible as it’s within the city limits. You’ll be able to reach it within 10 minutes from JB city centre, and just 20 minutes from Singapore (if there’s no jam lah).
There’s Going to Be a Parkson
One of Paradigm Mall JB’s anchor tenants will be Parkson, known as a department store offering everything from fashion to household items. This will be the first Parkson in the region, which will give locals a taste of what other states have been consuming.
It’s Not Just a Mall
Apart from the retail or mall zone, the complex is also going to feature commercial units and apartments. This means that there are going to be people living and working in the area, which is why it’s a great opportunity to invest, if you’re looking to grow your money.
It’s Made by the Same People Who Built Paradigm Mall, PJ
WCT Holdings Bhd is the company responsible for Paradigm Mall in PJ is a well known shopping and dining spot in a densely populated part of the Klang Valley. They’ve done a good job of maintaining the place so far, despite some early hiccups so you can expect the same performance in JB.

There’s Going to be a Four-star Hotel there
According to the developers, there’s also going to be a 296 room four-star hotel in the whole complex, which means you can shop till you drop and recuperate for the night, before going out and starting all over again.
Kinda of KSL, but with a more atas hotel.
It’s Going to Have a Premium Supermarket
Shoppers can look forward to shelves upon shelves of quality imported groceries, as Paradigm Mall JB is going to feature Village Grocer as their main supermarket. You can also expect to find plenty of rare ingredients that can’t be found anywhere else in the state.
Plenty of Entertainment for Everyone!
Apart from the aforementioned ice skating rink, the mall is also going to have an indoor skate park, and indoor climbing gym called Camp 5 and Golden Screen Cinemas for movie lovers.
November may seem very far away, but you can’t help but feel excited at the thought of yet another mall to explore. Get your shopping bags ready, because when it does open, you won’t be the first to want a piece of the experience!

The Coca-Cola Plus Coffee has arrived in Singapore, and let’s just say that the taste is very subjective: one of us thinks it’s like coffee candy, one of us thinks it’s like carbonated dark chocolate milk and one of us think it’s like Vanilla Coke. However, none of us thinks that it’s worth a second try, simply because we’ll all rather have Coke and coffee separately.
