2) Troye Sivan ‘The Bloom Tour’ Singapore

Pop prince Troye Sivan makes his return to Singapore for ‘The Bloom Tour’! He is a very big deal if you don’t know already; he’s picked up an MTV Europe Music Award and Teen Choice Award, as well as being praised by pop royalty Taylor Swift and big publications like Rolling Stone and Billboard.

Tickets are still available if you want to hear his soothing baritone voice but you better hurry! The event is on 3 May 2019!

3) An Evening With Katya Zamolodchikova: Help Me I’m Dying

Yekaterina Petrovna Zamolodchikova, or simply known as Katya, is coming to Singapore! She is most known for being on RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 7 (and winning Miss Congeniality title), All Stars 2 (runner-up) and being one half of UNHhhh, a show where Katya and her BFF Trixie Mattel talk about anything and everything. For a preview of what Katya could bring to her show in Singapore, we highly suggest you watch any episode of UNHhhh to get a taste of her absurdist, fatalistic and highly relatable humour.

4) NAO – Night At Orchard

Orchard Road couldn’t get more lit or busy. NAO, you can expect this 3-night event to feature live music, fashion, arts and food, on top of a dizzying array of options you already have! Local acts Codie LohYeo Ming Jun, Raphael Leong, as well as Winner of Mediacorp’s “One Moment of Glory”, Jill-Marie Thomas will be there to entertain you for the night. While their music is playing in the background, walk around and find yourself a bite at the multiple food trucks available.

It’s also the bougie week (aka payday week) so spend some money on local arts and crafts or some fashion to add to your wardrobe. You’ll be spoilt for choice whichever you choose.

5) Repeat, Repeat, Repeat; Revising the Phenomenon of Printing Exhibition

What’s in a word? Printing, obviously. This exhibition held from 17 May to 7 July 2019 will explore the history behind letter printing. It entails exploring the techniques and elements that go behind it, as well as its application in urban culture, science, spirituality, robotics and art.

6) Flipside 2019

When you think of circus, you think of clowns, jugglers, fire eaters and perhaps dancing animals. In present times, this could not be further from the case, and Flipside is a testament to that. This annual festival showcases the circus arts as a specialised discipline, much like other forms of art. It will feature practitioners from Singapore, Cambodia and Finland who showcase their talents at defying gravity and creativity.

Also new this year is “Flipside Scratch Night”, where newbies and seasoned artists are welcome to show off their creativity in puppetry, visual theatre and comedy or music acts – with a twist.

7) DBS Marina Regatta

It seems like nearly every event is about embracing a more sustainable lifestyle, and you might be wondering what makes this one so special. The 8th edition of the DBS Marina Regatta features a maze that you have to get through within a time limit to represent our planet’s ticking clock. You know it’s about to die if we keep up our wasteful ways, so change it up and have fun while you’re doing it!

If you visit, you can also look forward to local buskers doing their thing, attend workshops on upcycling and find some food from the many stalls there.

The DBS Marina Regatta wouldn’t be what it is without the dragon boat competition, where teams from Asia and North America compete for a prize worth $115,000. It’s an event for everyone; the kids get to play the games, the guys get to revel in the competitive spirit, while the girls get to check out the dragon boaters’ guns.

Vesak Day is a very important date in the Buddhist lunar calendar because it celebrates the birth, the enlightenment and the passing into Nirvana of Buddha. Buddhists around the world commit good deeds on this day because they believe that it will multiply many times over. Spirituality aside, this holiday also has its practicalities; it falls on 19 May 2019, a Sunday. That means you have the Monday off to continue doing good deeds!

9) Ramadan 2019

Ramadan is the 9th month of the Islamic calendar where Muslims observe fasting from sunrise to sunset. Just what is Cinco de Mayo, you ask? It’s a Mexican fiesta held annually on 5 May to celebrate the Mexican Army’s victory in The Battle of Puebla in 1862. This is the festival to be at if you like your alcoholic drinks. The Singapore Cocktail Festival  is not only about the drinks, but also the experience as well. Lounge around at the festival village while you enjoy your drink and chat with other festival goers. If your timing is right, you can get headliner bartenders doing their alchemy, and maybe, you get to drink their clever concoctions!

14) European Union Film Festival

The annual European Union Film Festival is back with a selection of some of the finest films from around the European Union. 27 films have been handpicked for the 29th edition of this film festival to give local audiences a taste of Europe’s diversity and creativity. 15) Singapore International Festival of Arts (SIFA) 2019
