3 Ways To Check Your Engine During a Car Maintenance

Every engine should purr in satisfaction when you turn on the ignition. A poorly maintained engine will lead to embarrassing moments when you’re picking up a date, or when your friends are hitching a ride with you. After all, you don’t want your car dying on you just when your date is complimenting you on how great you drive. And, a perfectly maintained engine means more savings for you to spend on unnecessary mods for your car.

1. Keep Things Lubricated. And Smooth

Your engine is made from components that are constantly grinding and humping against each other. When there’s no lubrication, it ends up in painful moans and groans in every pump. That’s why it is important to keep it smooth with engine oil. To ensure you have enough oil for your engine, you can check the dipstick. When your engine is cool, pull out the dipstick, wipe it clean and place it back in. When you pull it out again, there should be an indication of how much oil your engine has. If it isn’t enough, just add oil through the appropriate area as necessary. You’ll soon be hearing an orgasmic purr in your engine as it pumps smoothly at ignition.

2. Keep Your Cool

Your engine is a sensitive piece of equipment that can’t take the heat. Without an adequate amount of coolant, your engine will break down faster than you can say stay cool. Always check your coolant reservoir to be sure that your car doesn’t blow up into flames like a Michael Bay movie. Also, a word of caution; your car does not cool down if you are singing “Ice Ice Baby” by Vanilla Ice.

3. Belt It Up

When you open up your hood, you will notice a number of rubber drive belts around the engine area. Like all normal drivers who have never opened the hood, you probably don’t know what all of these belts do. And you probably won’t have to. All you have to know is that they shouldn’t be any splits or cracks in these belts. And no, you cannot use your branded leather belt to replace these belts.

Engines are the heart and soul of your car. Without a working engine, your ride would be as heartless as your ex who broke up with you on your wedding day. Take care of your engine, and you’ll have a dependable car who won’t leave you alone.
