Being in Singapore, you can’t escape from the phrase ‘shopping haven’ (well, maybe some won’t agree but let’s just go with it) and definitely can’t be unfamiliar to Orchard Road. Since we’re a tiny island, and apart from malls everywhere, the proper shopping district would be Orchard Road. One downside to that place is that it’s mostly crowded with people, locals and tourists, and of course the price of items. However, there are definitely some malls so good you have to go despite everything else.

Let’s be honest over here. If there’s one mall that has everything from high-end luxury to mid-priced items, it’s ION. Pretty toilets, big spaces, lots of apparel choices and food places. The MRT station is right in the mall. You can even get to view the whole of Singapore. What else do you want?

Possibly the best for students? Lots of blog shops with reasonable prices that students can afford. It also has some nail shops. The mall also has food like ayam penyet and sushi that received favourable reviews.

It boasts of some popular fashion brands such as Zara, Forever 21 and Victoria’s Secret. That’s only the tip of the iceberg. They also have eateries that are usually packed and quite a few popular snack stores like Garett and Honey Crème. Well, I personally feel that it has the best location, easily accessed by MRT and with Orchard Central, a standalone H&M, Cineleisure and Scape all around it.

Ngee Ann City

Some know it best by Takashimaya and yes, Takashimaya takes up a big part of the mall, stretching through 6 levels. Takashimaya has everything from a food section to the apparel section. However, Ngee Ann city itself has many stores, especially cosmetics stores that always attract groups of customers over the weekends and holidays. Also, don’t forget about Kinokuniya for the book lovers!

After the expansion, both the old and new wings offer a variety of shopping and eating choices for everyone. Located near SOTA and SMU, it’s also convenient for students to visit. Restaurants such as Tim Ho Wan may just be the factor for you to visit.

There are definitely many more malls down the street but if you don’t know where to start from, this list may be your savior.
