Before we begin, lemme just say this first – ladies, I’m sure all of you have gorgeous hair, and I’m certain that it looks good no matter what you do with it.

However, have you ever thought about trying out a different look with those lovely locks of yours? I mean, #YOLO, right?

1. Lovely hair buns.

This is a really versatile hairstyle that has many combinations you can work with! If your hair is long enough, you can pile it up on your head for a messy top knot. Otherwise, you can try a side bun or have it just above your neck. Top knots look classy, while side buns are playful and casual – perfect for everything, from going to classes to just chilling out at home. If you want to go all out for date night/formal dinners, you can even try incorporating tiny braids into your hair before pinning them up.

2. Sleek ponytails.

“Ugh, I had ponytails ALL the time in school – why the hell would I want a ponytail again?” Stop right there, young lady, and think again – ponytails are one of the easiest hairstyles you can pull off while looking absolutely fabulous at the same time. Instead of just mechanically wrapping your hair with a hair-tie, pull the hair up so that you have a high, swaying ponytail that bounces every time you walk. Comb through the ponytail properly so that the hair comes off looking sleek, professional and tidy. Ponytails help show off your neckline, so throw on a necklace or wear a dress that shows your collarbone while you’re at it.

3. Braids.

Braids are incredibly cool regardless of whether you’re going for the delicate look or something sexier. There are so many braids you can try out too –there’s the fishtail, Dutch braid, the French braid…and many more if you’re keen to Google them up. If you have different shades of colour in your hair, then braids are one of the best hairstyles to show them off. Sure, braids need practice AND can turn out messy if not done right – but once you get used to it, you’re gonna be that cool chick in the crowd rocking that unique hairdo. Have I mentioned that braids also work well with pretty much any outfit? You can wear a summer dress or even go jogging with them!

4. A short hairdo.

If you’ve been hanging long hair all your life, then why not have a change and go for something short instead? Short cuts can look bold and ferocious, not to mention they’re easier to handle in the hot weather. Ladies, there are plenty of short cuts out there that look plenty awesome. The best thing with short cuts is that you can have beautiful, noticeable layers! You can choose to have something with a fringe, or you can try a classic bob that would accentuate the shape of your face. You can even play around and have different lengths for the front and the back, or you can go for something edgier with your sides cut even and short. Throw on a working suit and party to funk town, sistah!

5. Accessorizing with bobby pins/hairbands/etc.

If you’re at your laziest and yet you don’t want to go out with a mop of hair covering your face, then it’s time to accessorize. Pinning some of your hair to the side before letting the rest fall gently over your ear gives you quite the casual yet elegant look, plus it stops excess hair from falling into your eyes. Similarly, use hair bands or headbands if you’re out for a playful occasion. Woohoo!
