8 Hottest S’porean Hawkers You Should Check Out This Weekend

Taiwan and Japan all have their fair share of good-looking, young hawkers that have made headlines around the world. After reading such articles online, you’d look at the hawkers at our local kopitiams and wonder to yourself “why don’t we have hot hawkers too?”

Actually, we do. Here are 8 of them whose faces (and food) are here for you to drool over.

Jen Wang of Palate Delights

At 34 years old, Jen Wang looks crazy young for her age. We wonder how the former air-stewardess manages to look so youthful even while working a wonton noodle and porridge stall in Hougang.

Where: Kovan 212 coffeeshop, Block 212, Hougang Street 21
Opening hours: 12PM to 2AM

Nur Hidayu Sakuwan of Nur Indah’s Kitchen

Hidayu learnt how to make prata from her family when she was only 13 years old. She has since earned the moniker of Singapore Prata Girl and received at least 74,00 views on Youtube when a video of her flipping prata was uploaded online. Guys who are interested in getting to know her, well, don’t bother. She’s already engaged to a football player from Geylang International Football Club.

Opening hours: 7AM to 12PM (Tues to Sun)

Edmund Goh & Jake Pang of Wafuken

What’s better than being able to stare at a hunky guy while you are enjoying a delicious meal made by said hunk? Having two hunks to stare at, obviously. Wafuken sells healthy Japanese rice bowls and it was founded by Edmund Goh and Jake Pang, two health-looking and very fit guys in their twenties. However, the duo hopes that customers will focus more on the food they serve instead of their looks.

Where: #02-05, 12 Marina View, Asia Square Tower 2
Opening hours: 11AM to 8PM (Mon to Fri)

Douglas Ng of Fishball Story

The Strait Times (Jamie Koh)

With his tan, athletic, and tall build, it is little wonder that Douglas Ng gets tons of attention from his female customers while working at his 16-month-old fishball noodles stall. Even though he leaves his business card at his stall, there are still many women in their 20s going up to him to ask him for his number. Too distracted by his good looks, perhaps?

Where: #01-85, Golden Mile Food Centre, 505 Beach Road
Opening hours: 9AM to 5PM (Mon to Sat), 9AM to 3PM (Sun)

Gerald Goh & Julyn Teoh of Penang Kia Prawn Mee

The Strait Times (Carolyn Chia)
The Strait Times (Carolyn Chia)

This good-looking couple selling prawn noodles at Sengkang turned heads with their cheerful smiles and friendly dispositions when they opened their stall some months ago. The couple used to fly as part of the SIA’s cabin crew in the past and quit their corporate jobs in order to settle down and start a family. We are sure their future children would turn out to be as stunning as they are.

Where: #01-02, Block 205D, Compassvale Lane
Opening hours: 8AM to 9PM

Daniel Surendran of Heavens Heritage

The Strait Times (Caroline Chia)

The former bartender and waiter is already a boss of five stalls which sell snacks, such as putu mayam and rice flour pancakes, at only 28-year-old. The 182cm tall hunk was so popular with his customers that he has had female customers asking him about his marital status and also a stalker who visited his stall and secretly snapped photos of him for six months.

Where: Kopitiam Stall 2 at Changi Airport Terminal 3 and Cantine at Jurong Point to name a few
Opening hours: Varies

Michael Ker of Kway Guan Huat Joo Chiat Original Popiah & Kueh Pie Tee

The Strait Times (Dios Vincoy Jr.)
The Strait Times (Dios Vincoy Jr.)

Apart from visiting the gym, Michael Ker also keeps fit by making popiah skins at his stall run by him and his parents. The 39-year-old also shows off his popiah making skills by doing live demonstrations at their family stall at Joo Chiat from 9AM to 10AM every Saturday. Not only is Ker good-looking, he’s also a license pharmacist too. But sorry ladies, this guy is already happily married.
