Looking forward to watching the fireworks come December 31? Book a staycation at some of the best hotels in Singapore to catch the celebrations from!
Let’s be honest, we all know what’s going to happen on new year’s eve — you’ll find throngs of people choping spots near Marina Bay with some aggressively guarding their spot like their life depended on it. Things can also turn ugly if people cut in front of you just as the fireworks start. Yup, not a great start to the new year, we think.
If you want to enjoy unobstructed views of the new year fireworks display and avoid human traffic at all costs, then we’d suggest forking out some cash for great skyline views, yummy food and drinks, a new year bash and a comfy bed to crash into! Sounds good? Then read on!
What are the best hotels in Singapore to watch the new year fireworks from?
1. Marina Bay Sands Hotel
This is not only one of the best hotels in Singapore to catch the new year fireworks from but it’s also one of the best hotels in the world! 55 storeys high, Marina Bay Sands hotel has the perfect vantage view of the fireworks! Choose to catch them while shimmying it up at the multi-concept Lavo or taking a dip in the world-famed infinity pool, we’d say either one is a winner!
We’re not judging if you and your partner choose to usher in the new year in the privacy of your hotel room though. Take in the view of the fireworks lighting up the sky through the floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the bay and share some wine before your nightcap. Have the first breakfast of 2019 with high tea at The Shoppes and maybe head for some cultural immersion at the numerous nearby museums afterwards!
2. The Fullerton Bay Hotel
This is one hotel to see and to be seen at. Don’t be beguiled by its relatively shorter height of just six storeys, its prime location overlooking Marina Bay offers front-row seats to the fireworks! Fully dressed in glass, take in the dizzying views of the surrounding hubbub while relaxing in the lush rooms of this award-winning hotel.
Once dusk sets it, we’d suggest glamming up and heading to La Brasserie, the hotel’s renowned French restaurant. If you prefer a more bustling dining place, check out the Mexican Super Loco at Customs House, a short walk away but be sure to come back in time for the fireworks which you can watch from the hotel’s rooftop bar, The Lantern. Chime in the new year while sipping on signature cocktails and take in the dazzling fireworks view from one of the best hotels in Singapore.
3. Naumi Hotel
We love this boutique luxury hotel for its modern minimalistic style. Through the use of clean colours and angular mirrors, it also boasts fashion and art inspired rooms with classy Coco Chanel and colourful Andy Warhol inspired rooms.
This boutique hotel is just as fashionable as its address on Seah Street and naturally is one of the best hotels in Singapore to catch the fireworks from. Eat at Table, by Rang Mahal, the hotel’s in-house Indian restaurant before heading up to The Cloud 9 infinity pool and bar area for panoramic views of the city scape!
If you want to continue the party, Naumi Hotel is not too far off from Clarke Quay where we’re sure there’ll be tons of options to satiate your new year’s energy with!

4. Swissotel The Stamford
This hotel needs little introduction as it has been part of our city landscape for the last 30 years. Sitting 73 storeys tall in the heart of town, it easily earns a spot as being one of the best hotels in Singapore to view the new year’s fireworks from. With newly refurbished rooms following the iconic Swiss characteristics of practicality and elegance, your stay here will be a breeze.
Dining and drinking options are abound too! Choose to watch the fireworks from Jaan — a one Michelin-starred French restaurant, housed on the 70th floor — or head to Skai to enjoy sky-dining in this contemporary grill restaurant and bar.
5. Pan Pacific Singapore

Inspired by the serenity of Kyoto, the Keyaki Garden Pavilion sits at the heart of our tranquil Japanese garden. _ Perfect for luncheons and dinners to celebrations and intimate wedding solemnisations, the garden pavilion is the ideal venue for an unforgettable event. _ For enquiries, please speak with us at +65 6826 8240 or email [email protected]
With its enviable address on Raffles Boulevard, this is not only one of the best hotels to catch the new year fireworks from but one of the best hotels in Singapore period. Indulge in the smorgasbord of dining and entertainment options including the popular Teppanyaki option at Keyaki Japanese Restaurant, champagne Sunday brunch at Edge Food Theatre and the kitschy nightclub, LuLu’s Lounge. Rolled in with top-class facilities and service, you’ll not be disappointed while spending your last day of 2018 here!
Pan Pacific’s annual balloon drop event in The Atrium is as close as to the Times Square ball drop event you’ll experience in Singapore. But we suggest slipping away to The Pacific Club, on the 38th floor, to usher in the new year with a glittering view of fireworks and a tipple or two. If you’re there with your little ones (they have a jungle gym for the kids!) and prefer to avoid the gala, then count down straight from your room! Book one of their Panoramic Rooms which feature stunning skyline views and watch the night sky light up while you’re all snuggled in!
6. The Westin Singapore
You may have often mistaken this hotel for an office building and we don’t blame you. The Westin Singapore occupies the 32nd to 46th floors of a glass building and traditionally draws a corporate crowd. But this little caveat may also allow you to get rooms here if you make last minute staycation plans — so don’t dismiss this hotel just yet!
On level 33, Cook & Brew offers a delicious line-up of craft beer and creative bar bites — have those while perched on their high stools and savour Singapore from yet another view. We, however, recommend going up close to the action with a dip in their rooftop pool. Watch the fireworks light up against the backdrop of Singapore’s south coast — a truly divine combo at one of the best hotels in Singapore!
7. Andaz Singapore
This new kid on the block has already raised some eyebrows since its opening in 2017. Housed in Duo Galleria, the striking pair of honeycombed skyscrapers in Bugis, the hotel occupies the 25th – 39th floor. The interior decor is inspired from surrounding shophouses in Arab Street — doorbells are designed to look like shophouse post boxes while bathroom doors are shutter-style.
Out of its numerous dining and drinking options, you must not miss the highly-raved, rooftop bar, Mr Stork. Nestled on the 39th floor, it offers glorious, unadulterated 360-degree views of the city skyline. Pick from their innovative cocktails or perhaps a pint of Andaz Pale Ale — yup, that’s the hotel’s very own brew! Did we also mention that the bar is littered with teepees? Cosy up with your special someone and star gaze — or rather firework gaze! We say romance it up at one of the best hotels in Singapore to catch the new year fireworks from!
8. JW Marriott Singapore South Beach
If you’re looking for swanky rooms, great hotel facilities and views to die for, then JW Marriott Singapore South Beach delivers on all counts. This hotel also has something known as the Ladies Floor only accessible to ladies and for which you need a special access pass. Find elements like a manicure and pedicure set, facial steamer, hair straightener and even cute bunny slippers in these rooms — perfect for a pampering stay with your girlfriend or mum!
With a multitude of dining and drinking options and a rooftop infinity pool from which you can score a view of the gorgeous new year fireworks, we’d be booking that staycation now if we were you! Psst, also check out their New Year package, we hear they’re having one now!
9. Bay Hotel Singapore
If you’re on a budget or making last minute new year plans, then book a stay at The Bay Hotel in Telok Blangah. You’ll still get to enjoy the view of fireworks, albeit from Sentosa. Head to the new year party at Bay Hotel’s rooftop bar, Propellor and enjoy fancy reasonably priced cocktails, mocktails and delicious platters.
Propeller Bar has let us in on a sneak preview of their 2019 countdown party. Expect free-flow alcohol and food from 9pm – 12midnight with a DJ spinning tunes till late. All in for $118++/pax!
Cosy up in their minimalist rooms and infinity pool overlooking lush greenery — truly an urbanite’s sanctuary! Maybe the new year will also bring new motivations to get fit! If you’re feeling so, you could start the new year right on a hiking trail at Mount Faber, a short distance away from Bay Hotel!

The Coca-Cola Plus Coffee has arrived in Singapore, and let’s just say that the taste is very subjective: one of us thinks it’s like coffee candy, one of us thinks it’s like carbonated dark chocolate milk and one of us think it’s like Vanilla Coke. However, none of us thinks that it’s worth a second try, simply because we’ll all rather have Coke and coffee separately.
