9 New & Exciting Ways to Spend Mother’s Day in S’pore in 2019

Your phone fleetingly buzzes at noon, and a text message notification from your family group chat appears with the automatic light up of the screen: “So, what’s the plan for tonight uh? Dinner?” At the same time, your sibling directly messages you, “Eh, should we get for mum this cake? You wanna chip in?”

You give in. You answer the questions, and heave a sigh of disappointment, and think about how the cycle repeats itself every year during Mother’s Day — event ideas thrown in at the eleventh hour, in a slightly desperate attempt to “make this day special for the first woman you loved in your life”. You tell yourself that the next year, it’s going to be different and that your mum is going to get the royal treatment.

Well, guess what? We’re going to help you to break out of that vexing pattern. Without further ado, here are 8 new and exciting ideas on how you can spend Mother’s Day with your mum:

Ramadan is considered the holy month for Muslims around the globe, and for Mother’s Day to fall in the same month – that’s unequivocally a blessing. Of course, if you’re going through the motion of fasting, you probably wouldn’t want to expend your limited energy doing anything too strenuous. And since the countdown to Hari Raya Aidilfitri virtually begins when Ramadan commences, it is exactly why you should be shopping for the outfits you’re going to stunt everyone with come the first day of Syawal.

Some areas you can consider checking out to get your baju raya:

  • Arab Street
  • Geylang Ramadan Bazaar
  • Our Tampines Hub
  • CelebFest Ramadan (17 – 19 May though…not exactly Mother’s Day, but still)
  • Woodlands – Causeway Point Bazaar
