Things you need to know and do about Singtel’s FREE mobile data on 1 May 2015

If you’re a Singtel mobile subscriber, you would have received this SMS from Singtel:

Thank you for your patience during the mobile data incident on 22 Apr. We will waive local data charges on 1 May. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

In case you’re not aware, on 22 April 2015 afternoon, Singtel users experienced mobile connectivity problems for their 3G and 4G networks due to a software fault.  Singtel acknowledged the problem and has since rectified the situation by 5:30 p.m. that day.

If you would have remembered, just about two months ago, there was a day whereby Singtel offered one day free data due to their rebrand. Now that Singtel users are going to get yet another free data day, here’s a recap of what you might need to do to ensure that you’re getting absolutely FREE data.

Firstly, make sure that you’re using the default APN settings. If you want to reconfirm (e.g. you just come back from overseas and have done some changes), simply check that your username and password for your APN (or you can find Access Point Network) are both 65ideas .

To ensure that you’ll not clock any background data sessions that might be using the previous day’s sessions, like Facebook or Gmail, restart your smartphone as early as possible on 1 May 2015. This will restart all continuous background data sessions and therefore “tripe-confirm” you’re using the free data.

 

Once done, go ahead and watch all the YouTube videos you’ve been dying to watch on your phone.
