If you have always been watching Channel 8 dramas, then you surely would have heard of Shaun Chen, the man who have starred in many of the 9 pm series on Channel 8.

Gaining popularity from his various dramas, especially in the recent Channel 8 blockbuster drama 大英雄, he is loved by many who think that he could practically make any role his (think: 大英雄). Here are some facts about this Da Ge Da that you may not know!

Attraction
He feels that he mostly attracts women in their 20s, rather than women who are older than him. Well, then again, he looks like he’s in his 20s as well, although he’s in his 30s.

Revelation
He decided to reveal to the public about his wife and daughter as he wanted his wife to have the freedom to tell others who her husband is without having to lie.

Second baby
Shortly after the birth of his daughter, he mentioned that he already wants a second child as he wants more children when he is still young. Yah, the best contribution he has made to our nation!

Early days
He was talent-spotted by MediaCorp in Malaysia in 2002, where he was an eyewear salesman and part-time model.

First appearance
His first appearance on MediaCorp was on City Beat, a channel 8 variety show where he was the host of the show alongside Sharon Au, Jeff Wang and Fiona Xie. Bet you’ve forgotten about that, eh? Especially when all his co-hosts have left the industry!

Ups and downs
When Mediaworks and MediaCorp merged, he found that he has no shows to act in as a form of retaliation by MediaCorp for him joining Mediaworks earlier on. Thus, he went back to his former job as a spectacle wholesaler, where he went around pedalling spectacles to optical shops.

Loss
When he returned to the showbiz, he had no time to manage his own optical business, which he opened three stores concurrently. As a result, he had to close down his company and made a loss of nearly $3 million.

Education
Unable to enter university, he enrolled in a private college in Kuala Lumpur. during his final exams, he didn’t know how to do a question and his lecturer actually wrote down the formula for him. Now that the academy has closed down, he does not know if the diploma he received is of any use or not.

Modelling days
When he was still modelling, he rode a very, very old motorcycle and he would park it far, far away when he went for shows as he was embarrassed by it. Guess now, he should be more than proud with his car, eh?

First audition
During his audition in a talent competition in Malaysia, he chose to sing for the judges but did not manage to pass even the first round. Well, singing might not work, but acting sure did!
