There used to be a time where Blogspot, Xanga and Livejournal ruled the Internet sphere, and when owning a blog was cool because that’s where you got to jot down minute details about your daily lives or use it as a platform to secretly confess to your crush – we all have been there, and done that.

These days, blogging has become a space where it has been dominated by reviews, travel guides or even as a space to bash the black sheep of the blogospheres (erhem, Blogger J) but if you were also one who started blogging in the early 2000s, here are some things you would remember or reminisce about!

Taking forever to decide on your blog name
Because back then, blogging was so popular that almost all of your desired blog names would have been taken, and you would have to resort to adding weird numbers or alphabets to your blog link. like coolgirl1234.blogspot.com or coolgirlzxzx.blogspot.com

Blogskins.com
Remember when you used to spend hours digging up the best cutesy blog skins with all the heart-shaped looking cursors or confetti when you visited your blog? Or spending hours trying to decode the HTML and change the colour of your font? Well, we have all gone through the phase where we hated on the latest blogger.com template layout and started to grow a liking to it.

Blogging in Twit language
Or essentially typing liike thissszxzx. Euu get whaat iie meanxz marzz?

Everyone linked everybody
Going to your blog meant unveiling a mini Google, where it would open the portal to thousands of other blogs. Once you find one blog, you pretty much found them all.

Tagboard
The small space at the side of your blogs where your friends would leave you messages like “xxx was here” or comments to your latest blog posts. Worst, keyboard warriors who try to find the most stupid things about your blog posts to hate on you.

You had a playlist playing in the background
And whoever who didn’t like the songs you were playing were welcomed to leave your blog.

Directing your crush to your blog posts
Blogging and leaving little hints here and there in your blog posts about your latest crush in hopes that he/she will pick them out when they read it. Or even trying to drop hints  just so that they will visit your blog just to read them.

Ranting about your enemy
And also, little subtle hints about how much you hate xxx and how xxx has ruined your life in hopes that xxx will actually read them. This is also when the Tagboard war begins.

You wrote a longass dedication or Birthday Post
Having a whole post dedicated to your friend was pretty special because you would have to skim through thousands of photo albums on your computer to dig up the 10001 pictures you two took together before uploading all of them at once. This would often take you hours to write but the sense of satisfaction would be immense.
