Well, the story goes that a man from Hunan, China, wanted his girlfriend to eat more and get a little chubbier for him.

According to China Press, a video from a variety show in China has surfaced on Sina showcasing a 26-year-old man, Zhang, and his long-time girlfriend. The couple had gone to the variety show because the girl felt that Zhang was being too pushy by constantly forcing her to eat.

The girlfriend looked healthy even though she was on the thin side, so the host and audience could not comprehend why Zhang, her boyfriend, kept asking her to eat more.

It was said that he even came up with outrageous bribes to make her eat more. The crème of the crop was when he promised to buy her an LV bag if she finished her meal.

He had also consulted a nutritionist to find out how to help his girlfriend getting chubbier and would constantly ask her to eat as much as she could.

In the video, he claimed that he was doing it for her health’s sake and “for her own good”.

However, the girlfriend protested by saying that she suspected that he wanted her to look more like his ex-girlfriend, who was apparently a fatter version of her.

When quizzed, Zhang admitted that his current girlfriend does look a bit like his ex, but she is not as pretty.

Upon pressure from the host and audience, Zhang finally admitted that he wanted her to gain more weight because he was afraid that his mother would reject her as a potential daughter-in-law.

The Truth

He said that his mother has very strict standards on her future daughter-in-law’s weight and height. Apparently, the girlfriend is currently having a weight that is lower than his mother’s standards.

When the hosts heard this, they were shocked at the revelation. The host reminded him that as an adult, he should know how to shake off his mother’s strict control of his life. Otherwise, he is going to have a difficult life when he gets married.

Zhang finally agrees with their views towards the end of the segment and the couple kissed and made up.
