A wise old man once told me, when you go out into the world and work, be prepared to meet all kind of people.

The nice.

And the not so nice.

Well, for one polytechnic student, he learnt that lesson all too well. Even before he had graduated.

Poly Student Decides To Try GrabHitch For The Very First Time

Poly student, Joel Soon, decided to try GrabHitch for the very first time on 30 Jul 2018 with his Hyundai Getz.

At around 12.40 pm, he managed to get a travel partner travelling from National University of Singapore (NUS) to National Technological University (NTU).

The woman was allegedly travelling to NTU for her convocation.

And when she knew that he’s driving a Hyundai Getz?

She Told Him She’ll Cancel The Ride

Her reason was that she couldn’t afford to travel to convocation in a small car. When Joel asked if she would be cancelling, she decided on a lengthy answer instead of a simple yes.

She went on to explain her reasons, saying that his car is small, cramped, uncomfortable and unsafe.

So why unsafe?

Because Joel is a polytechnic student so he’s young without experience and the car has no airbags.

And if you thought she’s done, there’s more.

She decided to give the driver one last piece of advice before going on with her life.

He should make sure he has a safe and comfortable car to ride on before offering Hitch services.

She added that he shouldn’t be doing Hitch with any simple, budget cheap car. Not only do people look cheap travelling in such a vehicle, it’s uncomfortable as well.

She claimed that she has talked to Grab about it but “nothing was done”.

Netizens Not Impressed With High-SES Lady

I won’t give my opinion on this lady, because you should know Goody Feed’s stand against strawberries.

But it’s times like this that you really appreciate netizens’ comments and appreciate them in all their snarky glory.

Most of them alluding to what a cheapo this lady is.

Some blamed the lady for not being upfront with her demands.

You get what you pay for.

Poor Joel, when he started driving GrabHitch, he was probably promised the following:

Unfortunately, nobody told him about “cheapskate, high-SES ladies”.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

What is GrabHitch?

For those who are still unaware, drivers who are driving GrabHitch are non-commercial drivers.

In other words, they’re doing you a favour by sending you to your destination in the fraction of a cost.

Like how your friend longpang (give you a ride) you to a destination that’s along the way.

And the amount you pay only covers some of their petrol cost.

In other words, the amount of money you’re paying is so insignificant it’s not worth taking your shitstorm.

Looking at this young lady, we can truly say that education can give you paper certificates, but it doesn’t give you manners, kindness and a conscience.
