If you’re a fan of Hong Kong movies, you’re definitely no stranger to Simon Yam.
Simon Yam, or better known by his Chinese name 任达华, is a veteran legend in the HK film industry with several awards and nominations under his belt.
I’m kind of a noob in HK films, only watching some action and comedy flicks here and there.
So I only really took notice of Simon Yam in the movie Ip Man (2009), where he acted as the best friend of the titular character played by Donnie Yen.
So even if you aren’t a fan of HK movies, you should at least know him from the Ip Man films.
Such a successful man should naturally have an outstanding child, right?
As the saying goes, 虎父无犬子.

Or in this case, 虎父无犬女.
(Translation: Tiger Dad No Dog Daughter)
Simon Yam’s Daughter Starts Modelling
It appears that his daughter, Ella Yam, as known as 任晴佳, has every bit of the star factor he has, stepping into the modelling industry at only 14 years old.
She’s found success without much issue, possibly thanks to connections and genes from her supermodel mum Qi Qi, also known as Sophia Kao.
Ella has also made history by being the youngest model ever to grace the cover of Cosmopolitan Hong Kong.
Translation of the caption by her mum: “Despite disliking dressing up and having her photographs taken, this girl has finally tried something new and unfamiliar. Moreover, this is the youngest cover girl in 35 years of Cosmopolitan history. Well done Ella”
Yes, Qi Qi couldn’t be prouder of her daughter.
Ella shot to fame and popularity after posting pictures of her photoshoot with Vogue Taiwan.

Wait, How Tall is She?
Just like you probably are, many Netizens were wow-ed by her slender figure and long legs.
In case you wondering, she stands at a whopping height of 1.8 metres.

Yes, that’s taller than me and even many guys out there.
Thanks for making me insecure about my height, Ella.
Seeing as how she’s only 14, she probably still has even more height to gain.
Combining that with her star power, she’s going to have a hard time finding a boyfriend in the future.
With the backing of her parents and some natural flair, she’s already well-liked by the public and is on her way to greater heights.
Quite literally.
