On Sunday, 9 June 2019, a man was found in a 4m deep construction manhole at One Raffles Place, motionless.
The paramedics from the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) pronounced him dead at the scene and police were alerted at 1.26 am.
This has been classified as a case of unnatural death.

So, what happened?
The Victim
The 26-year-old Singaporean was confirmed to be a part-time security officer for 1-Altitude. He had been with the company for under a year.
1-Altitude claims to be the highest alfresco bar in the world and a “multi-concept dining and lifestyle destination”.
It occupies the top three floors of One Raffles Place and the incident happened on the rooftop at an area cordoned off for exterior building cleaning works.
The Ministry of Manpower said, “A 26-year-old Singaporean employee fell into a 4m-deep pit in an area cordoned off for exterior building cleaning works,” and has since stopped all exterior cleaning works.
The main contractor for cleaning works at the One Raffles Place building is A&P Maintenance Services.
1-Altitude’s Response
With regards to the incident, 1-Altitude’s management said: “We’d like to refrain from commenting further as a form of respect towards his family.”
They also said: “We are very saddened about the passing of our colleague and are working closely with his family to provide full assistance during this period of grief.”

For now, they’ve also closed their rooftop bar to ensure the safety of their guests as well as to facilitate police investigations, though their indoor club remains available.
Their Facebook post reads:
To ensure the safety of our guests, 1-Altitude’s Rooftop Bar will temporarily be closed due to some rectification works – Our indoor club Altimate will be open to the public.
As of now, there is no more information; the police and the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) are still investigating.
