The once Cantonese specialised dish has become a favourite among diners in Singapore.
With its crispy skin and soft layers, roasted pork (烧肉) is of the many delicacies in you can find in local koptiams, but now we’re telling you which places have the best ones!
Because, well, chicken rice is so yesterday.
1. Alex’s Eating House
At first, you may think that a plate of BBQ and roast pork rice here is too pricey for a hawker centre stall. Ranging between $4 to $6, their sweet sauce and pork combination is definitely worth your money!
Topping up $1.50 gives you a bowl of their piping hot soup, which goes particularly well with their already delicious roast pork dishes. Find them at 87 Beach Road, #01-01!
2. Hong Kong Jin Tian Eating House
Be transported to Hong Kong without a plane ticket as this stall delivers its signature roast pork dishes! Started by owners from Hong Kong, you can be sure that the food from this stall has that authentic Cantonese taste.
With the use of their blended five spices powder (no, nothing to do with KFC), it is no surprise that they have a more unique taste as compared to other stall serving the same dish. Located at 55 Zion Road, they are open from 8am to 8pm daily; plenty of time to get your roast pork fix!
3. Kim Heng HK Roast Meat
They certainly aren’t stingy with their sauce, so your roast pork is going to have that obsidian gleam, and that sweet and salty tang. Besides roast pork, they offer other delicacies like roast duck or char siew rice, and you can rest assured that your meat is going to be fresh and tender as they put their chickens and duck on display. Simply head down to Blk 214 Serangoon Avenue 4, #01-88, to get a taste of their delicious dishes!

6. Kay Lee Roast Meat Joint
We’d say that a recipe that has a value of millions of dollars is worth trying. What’s special about it is that an electronics company, Aztech Group, bought over the stall for $4 million. $4 freaking million dollars!
For many, including the CEO, this stall holds many childhood memories as they have feasted on its dishes since young, where the quality has never truly dropped since. As the original chef is still around, you can head on over to 125 Upper Paya Lebar Road to try her million-dollar (literally) dish.
