Another Hokkien Prawn Mee? Let me tell you: this is not any other Hokkien Prawn Mee. They serve a “drier” version of the Hokkien Prawn Mee, which allows the amazing aromas of the prawn-based broth they use to blend perfectly with the smooth noodles which are immersed in it. Even the chilli sauce they provide has a texture unique to its own, which tastes slightly sweet, a little spicy, and loaded with ikan bilis.

ABC Market Best Food 5: Jin Jin Dessert

Some desserts for your sweet tooth perhaps? This stall is especially known for its “Gangster Ice”. You might be wondering what gave it such a cheesy name, but actually, it’s just a play of Chinese words – where the dessert is made of a combination of durian (“liu lian” in Mandarin) and mango (“mang guo” in Mandarin).

The first word of each fruit: “liu” and “mang” was combined and gives the word “liu mang” which sounds like a word that means “gangster” in Mandarin. The name might sound weird, but trust me, the recipe is amazing. Oh, and did I mention? They even have their own website to take online orders.
