At some point, all of us will crave something sweet as we’re out and about in the Orchard area. Maybe you’re bored of the llaollao and Milkcow phase and you don’t wish to splurge tens of dollars on a high-end dessert place.
Solution? Here are ten places you can get a decent dessert for less than ten dollars around the popular Orchard, Somerset and Dhoby Ghaut areas.
1. Pong Gelato
One of the best coconut ice creams around, each scoop is rich, creamy and fragrant with a deep coconut aroma. For the price of $5.50 you get a scoop of coconut ice cream + a fresh fruit sorbet + 3 toppings + a small cup of coconut water.
The fruit sorbet is bursting with the taste of real fruits and to make the deal even sweeter, the product is dairy-free and vegan. Definitely worth the trip!

2. Tsujiri
Fans of matcha can rejoice because Tsujiri’s matcha desserts are pretty popular and also delicious.
Go for the parfaits that are piled with toppings and indulgent, rich matcha ice cream that is perfectly bitter and flavourful. It might be slightly on the expensive side for the size but rest assured that you’re getting good quality stuff.

3. Churro101
A popular name from Korea, the churros here are made on the spot and are thus delightfully crispy and fresh.
Choose from a large range of combinations including stuffed churros, traditional plain churros rolled in cinnamon sugar, or even churros with ice cream. True to their tagline, it’s indeed “better than a boyfriend”.

4. I See i See
A store selling popsicles is a pretty refreshing sight in Singapore, especially since we haven’t seen many of such specialised shops around.
The popsicles are handcrafted and made with premium quality ingredients, which explains the price tag of $5.90-$7.90. However, they’re so incredibly pretty and tasty that you can’t help but buy them and they’re especially good in Singapore’s hot weather!

5. Hvala Waffle Bar
Here, the simple and tradition egglet that we know is transformed into a beautifully sophisticated and decadent dessert, perched atop soft serve ice cream and littered with toppings of your choice ($7.90).
The contrast between the hot, crispy egglets and the cold ice cream is a wonderful sensation for the taste buds! Other equally pretty options include carefully-arranged soft serve cups and unique waffle sticks drizzled with sauces and toppings.

6. TWG Tea Salon & Boutique
Wait, hear me out here. Yes, TWG is pretty atas but don’t worry, you’re not going to have to order off their dine-in menu. What we really want here are the macarons, which are ridiculously cheap at $2 a piece and are luxurious and rich.
Choose from a large range of tea-infused macarons and you certainly won’t be disappointed.
7. Paris Baguette
Paris Baguette has a surprisingly large range of desserts to choose from, regardless of whether you love macarons, cakes, or pastries. A recommendation would be their Apple Pastry ($4.50), a golden, flaky round pastry base topped with crunchy caramelised apples.
The size is extremely generous for the price and it would be difficult to find such a delicious apple pastry elsewhere! Another favourite would be their Royal Pudding—smooth, creamy, rich. Nothing you can’t love.

8. Sweet Monster
Popcorn and ice cream? Surprisingly, they make a delicious combo because of the contrasting textures. Sweet Monster is yet another Korean brand that has graced our shores, providing us with a novelty combination of popcorn and ice cream in a large array of flavours.
The ice cream has a rich milky flavour and the popcorn has a nice bite to it and when eaten together, you’ll be surprised by how much you’ve been missing out on.

9. 21 Cube Artisan Ice Cream
Ice cream rolls were once on trend in Singapore and sadly, the craze has faded out, but that definitely does not diminish the deliciousness of these little rolls.
Rolled out on a cold countertop and repeatedly ‘chopped’, these rolls of ice cream develop an interestingly chewy texture, which is definitely something new for many of us. Choose two mixers and your choice of toppings and sauces for just $5.90 and enjoy!
10. Blackball
Blackball is a go-to spot for those craving refreshing desserts as compared to the richer Western options. You can either choose from their pre-decided combinations or build your own, and since the bases are pretty light like beancurd or shaved ice, you don’t feel as guilty afterwards!
It’s pretty affordable too, with the signatures around $6.40 but you can always create your own dessert and make it cheaper or more expensive as you wish. Come here for a different post-meal experience or casual snack!
