10 crazy suggestions on how you can spend the coming weekend because #YOLO

Last Updated on 2016-05-19 , 1:53 pm

As much as we look forward to Sunday brunch with our friends, there are only so many times we can log in to Facebook and Instagram, only to be confronted with yet another VSCO-fied picture of Eggs Benedict.

So, without further ado, here are 10 alternative ways to indulge yourselves this coming weekend!

1. Go “skydiving” at iFly Singapore

When Westlife sang about “flying without wings”, they were probably thinking about iFly in Sentosa. Billed as one of the world’s first largest themed wind tunnels, this indoor skydiving outfit lets you experience the thrill of skydiving in a safe environment. Up up and away!

Psst: grab more great deals to Sentosa’s other attractions on Groupon here.

2. Indulge in a Gold Class or Platinum movie experience

Can’t walk the red carpet like your favourite celebrities? Never fear, we’ve got the next best thing: a Gold Class or Platinum movie experience at Golden Village or Cathay! Besides insanely generous leg room, you get lip-smacking good food delivered to you. Hey, if the movie sucked, at least you were treated like a VIP.

3. Take a chartered boat trip to Raffles Lighthouse

Fun fact: While Pulau Palawan (off Sentosa) is labelled as the southernmost point of Continental Asia, it’s actually Raffles Lighthouse that’s Singapore’s southernmost point. Today, the lighthouse still serves vessels coming into Singapore, with the serene island providing temporary reprieve from the bustling mainland.

Unfortunately, you’ll have to wait for the Marina Port Authority of Singapore to open a trip there. Sadly, the lighthouse is off limits to the public until there’s a supposed ‘open (light)house’.

4. Explore old neighbourhoods

What do Dakota Crescent and the Rochor Centre coloured flats have in common? They’re about to become part of Singapore’s history books as they make way for new developments (sad but true). Why not take a trip down memory lane before they go?

5. Take a barista class

With latte art being all the rage now, what better way to impress your cafe-hopping kakis than showing them how to brew and decorate the perfect cuppa? With your newfound skills, you’ll be saying goodbye to those boring 3-in-1 coffee sachets.

6. Go on a rooftop photowalk

Spacious and privy to some of Singapore’s best views, the rooftop is often forgotten for its more common cousin in OOTD shots – the brick wall. Grab your camera and scout the best photo taking corners in the likes of People’s Park Complex and Pinnacle @ Duxton – just be sure not to trespass.

This adorable version of soccer puts players in round, rubber outfits. As you can imagine, hilarity ensues whenever two or more players crash into each other! Now if only we can watch Liverpool versus Man United in one of these…

8. Drive the car of your dreams (for an hour)

Car junkies, this one’s for you. For a fee, you get to cruise along Singapore’s streets in a ride of your choice. Ferrari, Lamborghini… you name it!

9. Play a real escape room game with your friends

Channel your inner Sherlock at one of the many themed escape room games in Singapore! Whether you’re uncovering one of the world’s top secrets or defusing a bomb, one thing’s for sure: you’re racing against time. But don’t worry, while time may not be on your side, your friends are. So put your heads together and start thinking!

10. Go on a midnight supper run

This late night alternative to cafe hopping is the time-honoured tradition of university hall residents. Round up your buddies and carpool to your favourite supper haunts! Best of all, you don’t have to dress up for this.

The Roti Prata House (of affectionately shortened as ‘Prata House’), is the best place for supper – even if it’s a drive away.
